Update January 4th, 2010

I have lost about 30 pounds so far! More importantly, I have more energy and I am really doing much better at managing my portions and eating foods that truly nourish my body. Finally, I am less than a month away from running my first 5K!! I run very slowly, but as a lifelong ¨runaphobic¨ I never thought I would get to a point where I could run 40 minutes straight! I will update after the race, but I´m hoping to make it in about 35 minutes. This year I hope to continue along my weight loss and fitness path. I am really enjoying learning how to live in a way that makes me feel and look great!

Original Info:
I have spent too many years acquiring bad eating habits and not exercising consistently. It has taking me a while to figure out that slowly but surely gaining weight over the past several years has led me to a point where I am not healthy. I am finally trying to fix these habits, so when I stumbled across SparkPeople it seemed like a good fit. The big things for me are eating healthy portions, especially when it comes to sweets, and exercising on a regular basis, not just every once in a while. No more excuses!

My Goals:
Control my portions.
Exercise consistently.
Enjoy what I am doing.
Be healthy.
Eat lots of fruits and veggies.
Drink lots of water.
Sleep enough.

My Program:
So far I'm just logging my food, trying to stay within my calorie recommendation.
For exercise I have been walking at least an hour a day and I am starting to try and figure out what my strength training will look like. I moved on from walking to step aerobics and then to jogging. I hope to move into a more mixed workout and have added situps and pushups.

    ah that was an awesome message!!!! thank you so much. yeah the trip was unbelievable. thought about christina and paige the whole time though - but it was good. there are really no words, but you captured it. it is unthinkable. i'm so glad i had the opportunity to do something like B&B to really savor every second out of being alive - and i did- and i learned so much. have you thought about doing it?? not sure how old you are now, but hey... could be a possibility!!!?

    Thanks for your comment on my blog! It's true, going somewhere I love does change my outlook. As for the mud, it is still here and shows no signs of drying up. We had a mix of rain and snow all day yesterday and more of the same is expected this week. We haven't had a mud season this sloppy in YEARS -- I have a feeling that what the rest of the country calls Spring won't arrive here until May, lol.
