I joined Sparkpeople in June of 2010 but my journey began in January of that year. 2009 had been a tough year with a car accident that injured my back and some hard financial times. I had gained 20 pounds in two years and a my heaviest was 204 pounds. I made the decision to change my life and set myself a goal of 130 pounds by Christmas. I began by changing small thing such as switching to whole wheat, cutting out soda, and cutting back on bread. Over time and after reading the endless amounts of information on spark people gradually changed my habits. I had success in losing consistently for many months and only in the last ten pounds did they begin to come off more slowly. As of December my life is completely different than it was last year. I love the gym, and am diligent in my efforts. Eating right isnt just a choice, I know it is a necessity in order to live a happy and healthy life. I have more energy than I ever have. The difference in who I am as a person is huge, because I feel like life is worth living when you can do it to the full extent, not just as much as you can physically allow, I have accepted that these last 8 pounds may come off not on the scale but through my weight training and muscle building.

My Goals:
Original goal: go from 204 to 130 in one year.
New goal for 2011: strength train and build muscle, constantly challenging the different muscles and tightening my abs to be ready for my first ever bikini.


My Program:
I follow Sparkpeople's recommended calorie allowance, which at the moment is a max calorie limit of 1570 because I work out 5 days a week. I do 45 - 60 mins of cardio at the gym and do 30 minutes of strength training 3 days a week.



Personal Information:
I'm 21 and live on my own with my boyfriend which allows me to cook for myself which makes it possible to keep my nutrition in check. I'm a hairdresser and am going to school to be an ultrasound technician.


Other Information:
Sparkpeople is 90 percent the reason I have lost the weight so far. Thanks sparkpeople :)
