I am a special education teacher, PhD student, daughter and wife with 2 dogs and a parrot. We are trying to adopt a baby. I need to take better care of myself but (like everyone) am busy and "don't have time" LOL I'm also a very picky eater so dieting is hard for me.
My overall, ultimate goal is just to be healthier! To do that, I need to lose weight (80 pounds), be more active, and lower my cholesterol.
Outside of the weightless/health realm, my goals include: finish my PhD, be a mommy, organize my house/classroom/life, and eventually start a school for children with autism.
1. Eat at least 3 servings of fruits/veggies per day
2. Engage in at least 10 minutes of activity per day
3. Drink at least 64 oz of water per day
I am a special education teacher, PhD student, daughter, wife, photographer, mommy to my 2 dogs and parrot, hopeful adoptive mommy-to-be, avid reader, and overall goofball :)
I have psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, sleep apnea, excessive daytime sleepiness, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, epilepsy, attention deficit disorder, asthma, allergies and obsessive compulsive disorder. But I think I am a mostly happy, successful, functioning human being who has flaws, of course, but also has many good qualities. I take lots of medicine and see lots of specialist doctors lol but I also have a very full and rewarding life.

My name comes from several sources. One of my late father's favorite sayings was "I never saw a purple cow, I never hope to see one, But I can tell you anyhow, I'd rather see than be one." Well, I started saying that whenever I taught a child I couldn't understand. They were my purple cows. One of my best friends started calling me "Purple Cow" because I love the hardest to reach and teach. The "sped" part is just short for special educator. My name was supposed to be "Purplecowsped", but since I am "special" I got it mixed up when I signed up on the Spark, but decided I liked it better. It fits me, kinda different, kinda special, very unique.
Where in GA do you teach? I live in Cobb, teach in Cherokee.

Welcome to the Sleep Apnea team, Fatigue Support team and Organized Life team. We also, both belong to Shutterbugs and Mixed Mutts. I would also like to welcome you to Spark People. It is a great website. My personal favorite. I was a special ed teacher for 19 years and a special ed EA for five years prior to that.
I see you are going after your PhD too. No wonder you are tired. Glad you have the Hubby for support, the pets for stress relieving and the books and photography for joy. Come on back to our mutual teams and let us know how you are doing.
Good Luck on the adoption too!

Saw you on the Sleep Challenge. I was wondering what sort of parrot you have. My brother is a parrot rescuer and currently he has 15 birds. I never thought I would be interested in having a bird, but we have a single love bird that we have had for the past 16 years. He's quite a doll.
And I see you have Psoriatic arthritis and ADD, too. We are almost cyber-twins. Did your OCD and ADD predate your sleep disorders? Mine are definitely connected to the lack of sleep...I only get about 4 hours fragmented and well...that is very hard on the body and brain.
Anyway, nice meeting you and I do hope you sleep better soon.
