FIRST HALF MARATHON RUN 2:07:08 !!!!!!

My new passion going forward is going to be to remain fit and healthy!!! I want to really now focus on what I am eating and keep working out 4-5 days a week. I am going to stop being so hard on myself and start working on acceptance. If I can complete a half marathon, I know I can do anything now. WOW!!! What confidence you gain after doing something like that. I have told my children, "If mommy can run 13.1 miles, you can do anything you want in your life!"

I found a good article on recovery after a marathon--still applies to a 1/2!! Check it out under my favorites, as I am too impatient to do something as simple as copy and paste a link!

I like the advice of indulgence with sleep, reading, TV, etc. I can't wait! I told my husband that when I get home, I expect a spa appointment to be waiting for me Monday morning involving an hour long massage, pedicure, etc. I even gave him the phone number to the spa. Do you think he took the hint?

I'm still recovering after my 16-miler from Friday night. Yikes, it's already Thursday! What am I in for with 26.2?????

Happy spinning! emoticon

Thanks so much! It really is exhilarating isn't it? You were right about the whole thing and I loved it! I'm very pleased with my time! I was really shocked I'd done so well! Now I'm working on upping my speed a bit for the next race. Running a marathon has actually come to my mind as well when before I thought I'd never even consider it!

Hi there and a belated WELCOME to SparkPeople and the SPClass of January 6-12, 2008!
There's a thread on the team page called POPULAR QUESTIONS where a LOT of questions have been posed and answered. Take the time to read through it as questions you have may have been answered on there - and you may find some questions you DIDN't know you had! Use this board for Q&A only as it is something of a chore to wade through if you're looking for a specific item. (And for me to have to find the most recent question to answer! LOL) Thanks for Understanding!
Participation can be a GREAT motivator! I encourage you to read the threads, post replies, start your own topic! Come by and Introduce yourself to everyone this is a GREAT team of CARING people! Use the nutrition and fitness trackers so you can see your progress and your blog so you can review, later, how you felt on your journey. It will also help others to see your success!
We're the LARGEST TEAM in SparkPeople. I'm hoping that we will have the largest number of PARTICIPATING team members as well!
Its all about WILLPOWER, DESIRE and DETERMINATION!
Good luck on your weight loss goal and your quest to a healthier lifestyle!
