I joined Sparkpeople to lose weight, get fit and stay in shape. A friend of mine that I used to work with told me about this site and I love it!

I was a very active teenager. I was always doing something active… walking, running, swimming, dancing etc. I was on my high school swim team and track team… in addition I was a club rat… always partying and dancing…lol

About 12 years ago, I had a car accident that caused 2 ruptured discs in my lower back. For about 4 years I had pain in my lower back and was unable to exercise… this contributed to my weight gain.

I started out taking epidural shots to numb the pain and as the discs in my back got worse, I needed to do back surgery. I had my first back surgery May 2008 and I was fine after that. Unfortunately, I fell off the treadmill at the gym in September 2009 and re-injured my back. I had my second back surgery November 2009.

The doctor gave me the okay to resume exercising and I’m anxious to start again. I started walking the Melbourne causeway again, but I need to step it up a notch.

I want to do something fun and active outside the gym so I’m putting together a team to play soccer. I’ve always loved soccer but I’m no good at it. I figure this would be a good way to learn more and to get some exercise in. I’m thinking one week night per week and Saturday mornings!

I've already met some motivating people on Sparkpeople… I'm looking forward to meeting more and to be an inspiration to others.

My Goals:
My short term weight goal was to be under 200 pounds… I achieved that goal!

My new short term goal is to lose 20 pounds by March 2011 . I achieved that!

My new short term goal is to lose 10 pounds by December 2013 .

My long term goal is to be at my ideal weight 145 pounds by Summer 2014!

It will be challenging with my back… but it's possible!!!


My Program:
I plan to continue with my 5K/10K walks/runs...

Train for a Half Marathon.
this year (maybe two).

Continue eating healthier and to stay active.
