I'm Michel. I joined spark people in the end of 2008 and a few months later I decided I could do it on my own and deleted my sparkpeople account. Who was I kidding? I'm now weighing in at my biggest. I'm Michel. I joined spark people in the end of 2008 and a few months later I decided I could do it on my own and deleted my sparkpeople account. Who was I kidding? I'm now weighing in at my biggest. I'm a dental hygienist. I moved to Florida from Georgia in January of this year and I'm loving every minute of it. Every weekend we have people visiting and every weekend I struggle with eating healthy while all my friends are eating bad because they are on vacation! I have no routine during the summers, because my front door seems to revolve constantly. I look forward to fall months when I can settle into a routine not that I'm wishing summer away! It's my favorite! On the weekends I have been eating things like brownies, cookies, ice cream, fried fish, etc. while my only form of exercise is lugging my beach chair to the water or the occasional bike ride or swim in the pool. I need to get in a rhythm because I don't feel my best!

My Goals:
- Form a routine that includes mostly all sensible meals and staying within my nutritional ranges except for one day every week - most likely on a weekend because that is when it is hardest for me.

- Do one form of exercise daily. i.e. biking, walking, swimming, jogging, kayak, or workout videos.

- Track my food 6 days a week.

- weigh 130lbs and then give myself a 5lb window to stay inside.

My Program:
lifestyle change - eat well. write it down. enjoy dessert occasionally. chose whole foods over processed. and if I eat a dessert, it has to be homemade. no sense in wasting calories on something that came from a factory.

Exercise, but enjoy it. Make it fun so that it lasts a lifetime.

Personal Information:
I'm michel. 24 years old. married, no kids. live in navarre, florida. work as a dental hygienist. loves to bake (yikes), read blogs, read magazines, plan vacations (that i'll take eventually!) aunt to a beautiful little baby, amelia grace. no pets. love photography and do beach wedding photography on the side.

Friended back! I saw some of the other comments on your SparkPage....are you working toward being a Roller Derby girl? (Or just rocking the roller derby skates?) Pretty awesome!!

Couldn't say without seeing the skates you bought, but you might have issues with them if they're the kind with the tall boots. Most of those are "art" skates, meant more for figure-type skating than derby/speed style stuff. Almost all derby skates have the low ankle boot. You can spend a lot of money on skates depending on how top-of-the-line you want to go. My latest pair cost me about $500, but I've been skating a long time, I'm really fast, and I knew I'd want a good pair that would be able to do what I wanted them to do. If you buy brand new skates for derby, expect to pay between $150 and $250 for a decent starter pair. You can get them cheaper if you find them used on ebay, craigslist, etc. It matters what kind of skates you get, and there are basically three different components that are important - the boot, the wheels/bearings, and the plate (what the boot and the wheels are each attached to). There is some good info on the Sin City Skates website, which is an online derby equipment store. Check out their blog/faq page to start learning a little bit about skates.

Sorry to write a novel! I'm big into skates, and it's hard not to get off on a big lecture. Ha ha. The important thing is that you're out there with wheels on your feet - getting those skating skills up and burning calories! Good for you! Hope you have fun with it.

Hi, thanks for adding me as a sparkfriend! Great job burning 600 calories on the bike! My daughter and I power hiked 1.4 miles up a mountain last night so was a good workout as well. Tonight I have a dinner party and will need to be careful with the wine and food because I need to run 5 miles when I get home for my half marathon training team. Tomorrow it's a hill run, then Friday I'm off to rest up for my first ever 9 mile run on Saturday. This all works better when you can plan your life around your training schedule and not the other way around like I have always done. I understand your problem with having company over. That will through me off my schedule sometimes too but I just on sparking! Have a great day!! emoticon

Stop stalking and start skating!! :) I LOVE roller derby, and I'm so glad I joined. I'm having insane amounts of fun, even with all the bruises. You should definitely take the plunge!
