Me over 15 years ago. And, I thought I was fat then!
I'm a six year divorced, fat, almost-fifty, Christian, single mom who has a marketing plan for a new me! The first step is to lose a total of 122 pounds and the last step may involve plastic surgery! LOL! Along the way, I'm going to find myself! So many of you have already traveled this journey...I know I can too!
[Update June 4, 2014]
I'm back! My son has graduated high school and now it is time to take care of me and put me first! How many times can you say "this is it and I'm doing it?" I don't know. I've loss track but I'm not going to let that stop me this time!
[Update Jan. 26, 2012]
A car accident put all my plans on hold for almost two years.
[Update Jan. 1, 2012]
This is my year and I'm ready! Lets do it!
[Update Nov. 1, 2011]
Foot and knee problems and other health scares side tracked me for the year. I gained 16 pounds back. Ugh! Now, I'm regrouping and going at it again! It wasn't my plan to get off track but it happened. I just have to push the restart button and not beat myself up over it.
[Update End of October 2010]
My total weight loss for October was 58.4. I suffered through the month and I’m glad to see it go. I dealt with tendonitis in my foot, not being able to exercise the way I was, breaking in new orthotics, some med changes and losing my Spark Mojo. Here are the positive things that happened this month:
-I joined the Twelve weeks ‘til Christmas Challenge Year Two team.
-I earned the 50 Pounds Loss Award.
-I hit a third of the way to my goal of losing 166 pounds on the weight loss ticker.
-I celebrated my 5-month SparkVersary on 10/25.
-500 Monthly SparkPoints! Award.
-I DID NOT GIVE UP!
[Update - End of September 2010]
September flew by and my total weight loss was 46.6. I met my goal of losing 46 pounds by the time I turned 46 at the end of the month! (I was an overachiever and lost .6 more, LOL!) Reaching my goal was the best birthday gift ever!
I finished my first SP challenge: Team 300 Pounds Plus - Biggest Loser End of Summer Challenge on Sept. 14. The fifth week of the challenge, I lost 2.4, which earned me 7th place for that week. The sixth and final week, I lost 4.8 pounds, which earned me 2nd place for the week and 1st place for my team the Ms. Fits. The final results of the challenge, I placed 2nd in the competition with a percentage lost of 7.03% and pounds lost of 20.6! There were 42 out of 89 members that hung in there and completed the entire challenge. Other things that happened in September:
-I earned the 40 Pounds Loss Award.
-I hit a quarter of the way to goal on the weight loss ticker.
-I finally won SparkGoodie points on the SparkPoints wheel!
-I celebrated my 4-month SparkVersary on 9/25.
-I bought new pants and went from a 26/28 down to an 18/20.
-I left 270ville!
-I began strength training and got two days in before the month ended.
-500 Monthly SparkPoints! Award.
-1,000 Monthly Fitness Minutes Award.
-I noticed that I can carry the laundry baskets all the way up the stairs without gasping for air instead of moving the basket up two stairs at a time.
[Update - End of August 2010]
As the month came to an end, my total weight loss was 36.4. More importantly, I am off all four insulin shots. (The first three I stopped at the end of July and the last on 8/29, after being diagnosed as diabetic and out of the hospital less than two months!) My endocrinologist said she wanted to frame my blood sugar numbers and that I was doing so well that she did not need to see me for three months. I had my first appointment with the dietitian and she also was proud of my progress. Other things that happened in August:
-I joined my first SP challenge: Team 300 Pounds Plus - Biggest Loser End of Summer Challenge. One week during the challenge, my 5.4 loss earned me 3rd place for the week and 1st place for my team the Ms. Fits!
-I left 290ville and 280ville!
-I was able to step up my exercise: 20 minutes of walking to 30 minutes of walking a day.
-I celebrated my 3-month SparkVersary on 8/25.
-I earned the 30 Pounds Loss Award.
-500 Monthly SparkPoints! Award.
-Besides the scale, I can tell I have lost weight because: the boobs are smaller; can tighten bra; 5X shirts are loose; I can tighten my shoes and have a lot more shoe lace to tie with; I had to tighten the face mask to my CPAP machine; and I began to get compliments.
[Update - July 2010]
Thirty-six days after joining SparkPeople and almost losing 22 pounds, I ended up in the hospital for a week. Apparently, what I thought was the stomach flu was actually the onset of diabetes. CRAP! I gained six pounds in the hospital from fluids due to my severe dehydration. I'm giving myself four shots of insulin a day right now and adjusting to the new lifestyle. At my first endocrinologist appointment (three weeks out of the hospital), the doctor backed me off my insulin by 10 units at each meal. She said I'm doing a good job and that (I must tell you) felt GREAT! I'm counting my carbs/calories, drinking 80 ounces of water and walking 20 minutes a day. The goals that I have met so far since joining SparkPeople on 5/25/10 are:
-Get off Singulair medication (checkmark),
-Get under 300 pounds (checkmark),
-Get off the Diet Coke addiction train and any other carbonated drink (checkmark),
-Get off the potassium and edema pills (checkmrak).
-500 Monthly SparkPoints! Award for July.
-500 Monthly SparkPoints! Award for June.
-Consistency Award for June.
A huge thanks and mucho love back to all the Sparkers that wondered where I went during my hospital stay (I was on SparkPeople 36 days straight until then) and sent tons of Spark Love in my direction! You're AWESOME, every one of you!
My intro text when I started SparkPeople:
- I'm a recently divorced, fat, mid-forties, Christian, single mom whose Ex decided he likes guys more than girls...but I'm not bitter...LOL! I refuse to let any of this baggage define me so I have a plan....a marketing plan for a new me! The first step is to lose 166 pounds and the last step may involve plastic surgery! LOL! Along the way, I'm going to find myself! So many of you have already traveled this journey...I know I can too!
- Just do it!
-Create a new me!
I use to say that after I reach all of my goals, I'm going to find Mr. HEA (Happily Ever After)! Meh! We'll see...
