This is my first serious attempt to lose weight. Previously my goals were generalized to eat better, exercise more, and control my blood sugar levels. I had the belief that these goals would lead to weight loss but the accomplishment of these goals were good enough and any weight loss would be an added bonus. This time around my goals are more specific and include weight loss.
1. Lose 58 pounds.
2. Reduce my hemoglobin A1C
to below 7%
3. Lower my triglycerides to the normal range.
4. Increase my strength and stamina.
Short term goals:
1. Maintain my daily blood sugar levels - no highs or lows.
2. Use Spark People food tracker 3 days a week.
3. Use Spark People to track water intake. Drink one glass of ice water each morning. Drink 8 cups of water each day.
4. Use Spark People Fitness Tracker to track all fitness activity.
1. Cardio exercise daily for 36 minutes or 250 minutes per week.
2. Watching my diet. Eating regularly scheduled meals. Avoiding fast food. Avoid foods that are too sweet or too high in fat.
3. Taking my medicine on time and correctly.
4. Checking my blood sugar levels daily and more often if needed.
5. Increasing my fiber intake though eating vegetables and supplements.
6. Increasing my water consumption to 8 cups per day.
7. Using the tools on Spark People, to get support and hold my self accountable.
I have Type II Diabetes for 15 years. On the whole, I've managed my diabetes pretty well. However, there have been times when I wasn't in good control. For the last six months I haven't been doing as well as I need to be. I'm determined to lose weight and get into a healthy lifestyle on a permanent basis.
I love music. I like a variety of music, Rock N Roll, Rockabilly, Alternative Rock, pop, motown, Blues, old country music, opera, and classical. I really like pow wow music too. I don't listen to modern country, rap, or death metal. Not too long ago, I was obsessed with all things Bowie. (David Bowie).

I just wanted to say hi and tell you that even though I've been away from SP for the past several months (bogged down with work and stress) I am looking forward to ending the mighty-year-of-challenges that has plagued me this past year and start fresh soon... I may be still a bit scarce around here for the next little while but I did want to let you know that I've been thinking of you and hope you are doing well in life, in happiness, and in your journey.

Are you still here? It's been a while since you've updated your status or since I've seen you around... Hopefully you're just lurking and quietly still chasing your own goals but in case you're not, please remember:
People disappear for all sorts of reasons. Life gets in the way, we forget or change our views on what we deem is important, we get buried under stress, frustration, illness.
