June 28, 2010---UPDATE

Staying on the healthy path and trying to keep it fresh. I have decided to try to lose in 10% mini-goals so my first goal is 25 lbs. I am feeling strong and healthy! I am now 27 lbs down from my highest weight (which means I've gained 16 lbs in the last 6 months or so). It's all good and I am DETERMINED to be healthy even if I have to be a healthy 250 lb woman! LOL! Let's keep sparking, ya'll!!!

I define 2008 as the year that I "grouped my poop" and got it together. Since June 18, 2008, I have lost 35-40 pounds (depends on when you weigh me!) and I have gained energy and confidence. 2009 has turned out to be less eventful than I hoped with the whole weight-loss thing, but there are many good things that happened.

I am much, much, much healthier. I have decreased my diabetes medication down to 2 pills a day (I was taking 5!). My A1C is down below 7 and I am working very hard to cut sugar out of my diet. I've gotten past "needing" sugar to feeling like I don't want the stuff in my body. I know you don't know me personally, but if you did you would know that this is HUGE! I used to prefer spending time shopping in CANDY STORES instead of CLOTHING STORES.

People who haven't seen me in a while say they can tell I've lost a little weight. That doesn't bother me! My focus is to be healthy and if I get thin as a side effect of that--GREAT. Let me say that again. My FOCUS is to be HEALTHY. I don't need to be skinny, I am comfortable in my own skin.

I am a teacher by trade, but feel like I need to model healthy eating--not preach about it. I am going to stop reading OTHER PEOPLE'S food labels until I can do it without making comments! LOL!

Fitness Minutes: 140

My Goals:
Limit my sugar intake to 15g a DAY.

Find "family friendly" recipes that contain less sugar but are tasty enough that my family won't even notice.

Continue to work out. Strength train MORE.

Believe in myself.

My Program:
Focus on protein and veggies.

Keep sugar under 15g and carbs under 120g.

Make carb choices that are whole grain.

At least 8 glasses of water.

Some sort of aerobic activity at least 30 minutes daily.

Personal Information:
I am married and have one son, Sam, who is 14. We also have an "adopted" grandbaby named Tristan. Even though we are not related by blood, I couldn't love him any more if I had given birth to him myself. I think he looks like us, don't you?

I am currently the Praise and Worship leader at my church. I play piano and sing. I LOVE WORSHIP. God is SOOOOO awesome!!
