Powerlifting Mom

I started here at SparkPeople weighing 227 pounds and have learned many hard lessons over the past 3 years of losing some of that weight. And some good lessons about who I want to be.

So I'm at 180 pounds now, have been in the 175-180 range for a couple of years. The scale hasn't meant much to me. I've been consistently working on my strength and the only numbers that have mattered are the numbers I'm putting on the barbell. People keep telling me I look like I'm losing weight, ...

So I'm at 180 pounds now, have been in the 175-180 range for a couple of years. The scale hasn't meant much to me. I've been consistently working on my strength and the only numbers that have mattered are the numbers I'm putting on the barbell. People keep telling me I look like I'm losing weight, and that means I'm building muscle and losing fat. That's the plan.

This year my hubby and I will compete in our first powerlifting meet.

My goal is to work down to the 165lb class, but doing so without losing alot of strength. This takes more time and I'm fine with it. Long haul, baby, not quick fixes.

Man, if I were lifting like you, I'd be on a running break too! Holy Moly! Warrior Dash, huh? Since injuring the ankle, I'm scared stiff to do anything but road running. I'll get over it eventually. :) You are amazing!

Yup that was the bridge run in Brunswick. It was challenging. Looking at the results, I could/should/would have placed 3rd in my division if I'd been closer to the front of the start. I thought they only used gun time to determine overall winners, not all places. The woman who "beat" me was 2 seconds ahead of me gun time, yet nearly 30 seconds behind me chip time. Oh well, it is very gratifying to know I'M BACK!!!

I've always had a hard time with really heavy weights and my skeleton- I just always seem to get injured. For me personally, I have found that regular, methodical weight training works best.

BTW- I LOVE your background piuc! The one of her standing sideways to the camera holding the two Dumbbells is on the inside of my pantry door, which I use for my inspiration board.

Hey! How are you? We made it down a week ago. I am loving the warmer weather - been running (maybe too much, still trying to get ankle to cooperate), but I am being good, I think, and going pretty slow. How have you been?
