Hi. I am participating in SparkPeople to lower my blood pressure again to 110 / 60, my cholesterol to well within the healthy range and my size to a regular petite again. I plan to do that by re-learning and tracking healthy eating and exercise habits, earning Spark Points and joining others in this social online environment. Good luck all!

Update of 7-11-17: Goals Met are that 1) My blood pressure is back where I want it (I haven't and continue to not take meds yet my most recent reading was 99 over 65. Yeah! 2) I am back into petite sizes again, although I can also wear some misses and juniors, so I am getting my style back! I won 3rd prize in a 12-Week-Fitness Challenge and continue to exercise 3 - 5 times per week. I have decreased my weight by 65 pounds!

Unfortunately, that was weight I gained since beginning my most recent job 8 years ago where I sit at a desk most of 8 hours every day 5 days per week. Now, I am going on in an effort to lose the weight I wanted to lose before then...but, hadn't bothered because I really didn't feel too bad about it and I was always in great health including having my labs and bp and all where they should be.

But first, between having lost that 65 pounds and now my re-initiating efforts to lose the remaining pounds I want, I took a vacation. I don't mean that I went traveling somewhere, I mean that I stopped tracking my eating and changed my exercise routine to just gardening. During that time, I was blessed to lose 10 - 25 of the total pounds I lost (some that I probably should have seen go away and hadn't when I was working for it).

But, now I am feeling fat again even though I am at this decreased weight and in smaller sizes, and it is great because that is encouraging me to get dedicated to my exercise and weight loss efforts again. Actually, I had lost most of the first 40 pounds without adding exercise. But, some of you will understand that exercise is just harder when you are heavier...so, I purposely waited. And, it is easier and feels better now! I don't document my exercise on SparkPeople though because I found SparkPeople making available extra calories for me to eat after I entered exercise...and I didn't want that.

To those of you who are working toward goals like I am, I wish you success! I think it is very important to be ready to lose weight and understand and actually very much care about why you want to do it. Then, it is important to appreciate the positives that happen along the way. There are many positives that happen along the way if you pay attention and take time to appreciate them and maybe even celebrate some of them in a healthy way.

One other thing I have done that I have found has helped me is that I have made fairly routine appointments with a Dietition whose help I am fortunate enough to have available to me for free via my Tribal Health Services. It is considered Preventative Health Care! And, lucky me, that is all I need! And, I am working to keep it that way. If you have stuck with me through this, thank you for your attention.
