Consistency is key...

I've been on SparkPeople quite awhile, but with long stretches of absence...and that is why I have not yet reached my goals.

There is nothing like the success of your fellow sparkers to boost your motivation and that's my plan for the new year.

I try to be self motivated and consistent, but this site offers wonderful support through its members and all the tools I need to lose that 20 pounds that crept up on me when I passed 50!

My Goals:
1. Keep moving - make a permanent exercise schedule and stick with it.
2. Improve my eating habits, both for weight and cholesterol control.
3. Much as I hate it, do weight training - for my bones if nothing else.
4. Lose the last 10 pounds.
5. Fight depression
6. Look and feel the best I can at 53!

My Program:
This is the program I try to follow. I can't claim to do all these things perfectly every day, but by doing most of them, I hope to achieve my goals.
1. Physical activity every day with credit given for gardening and heavy house work - not just walking, stationary bicycling, weight training and yoga.
2. Nutritious food - heavy on fruits, grains and vegetables, light on meat and saturated fat...with occasional treats!
3. Sound mind, sound body - stress reduction through meditation , yoga classes and blogging.
4. Challenge my brain every day.
5. Relish a good laugh every day.

Go ahead and share a recipe. If I could, you can. Many members' recipes sound tempting, but just as many are ho-hum or downright appalling. Beside, what is dull and ho-hum to one is exciting to another. Pick the one you like most of all those you've calculated.
