Morning Mandi:) I did both, drank the shake after my workout and as a small meal option. Sometimes I would just do half a shake. When I initially started I had a heck of a time getting in the eggs and meat, as well as several food allergies I deal with. I am not a huge meat eater and egg whites were new for me and SO many of them. I wasn't really counting calories, just focused on eating more of clean foods. When I couldn't eat something I would take a look at the numbers on the food and pick a substitution, which was often a shake. Plus it is easy. I was also someone who left a high protein snack for night. Even the times when she gave a cut-off for eating. I am a nighttime exerciser so I had to adapt for that.
