SPARKLE ME

It is working for me now, even if at a snails pace. I count every clorie that goes in my mouth. The longer I do this, the more I learn about the power and expense of certain foods. This makes choice easier when I think, how hard to I want to work to spend this energy I am about to eat.
Sclaes are slow to move but the miror is howing some changes. Fat is slowly gowing away and I am not hungry, nor do I deny myself any cravings, as long as it fits in my calorie count.

WOW, after a 5 year absence I have come back here to start a new journey. Weight loss and maintenace has always been my obvious goal. I accomplished Most of that in my first journey with walking all over the continent. I love walking and became obsessive about it. I still walk dailey and walk to places others might hop in the car and drive. I prefer wilderness settings but that is seldom possible except for summer.
THIS TIME I am focussing on what I eat. I am still active physically, but I never really held myself accountable for what I put in my mouth. Now, like clock work, I record it. I see it in print. I see the nutritional value. This is a real eye opener and I see what seems like a simple and harmless choice, like a slice of pizza, yields a lot of calories. Now part of my choice is whether or not it is worth it to me to poke something in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, if I want it, or if I am in a situation it is the polite thing to do, I just eat it, or at least a portion.

2009 was not a notable year for weight loss or new activity in exercises. But it was a New Year for becoming a grandmother to my son's first child, Miss Annabelle. This has been a joy. A walking buddy for sure. She has been strolled so many miles with a 5K at 12 days old. No marathon yet but 6 mile jaunts several times. She is a good sitter. She also like the night strolls under stars and the moon.
I hope 2010 sees me making a career move with more time off. I have so many things I want to do to uncomplicate my life. Fingers crossed and good choices I hope.

My Goals:
Continue to get my calories undercontrol. Eat frequently during day using good food choices and not letting myself get "starving".
Get my walks in daily, finding new and interesting paths to the beach, marsh, and canals.
Take time to record the interesting "rewards" I find on my journey.

Walking daily
Monitor activity
Log foods and exercise
Drink water all day
Continue educating myself
Be prepared when adventure calls.

Personal Information:
I live in Myrtle Beach South carolina with my husband. We have a "Sun" Jake. I own and operate a restaurant, a deli, wine shop and offices on a harbor on the Intercoastal Water Way for 18 years. I was an RN in the Emergency Department prior to buying the restaurant. I have 2 dogs, Precious a 12 year old Keeshound and JJ a year old long hair Chiuahua.
I love out doors, walking, fishing, golf, gardening, hiking.

Other Information:
My favorite destination is Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. I love to watch Moose, Bear, Eagles, Cayote, etc.
I escape as often as possible.
I love fly fishing and know the difference in "fishing" and "catching". I am a terrible fly fisher..but will get better with practice.
Love and enjoy surf fishing..pretty good at this one..

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, there is a lot to do with DH's things. Can you believe he had 4 garbage bags of shoes alone!!! These will probably go to a nursing home.

I'm doing good. Cleared off the walks 3 days in a row. Snow..snow..snow. But it has finally stopped.

I never understood "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". That's like comparing the proverbial apples and oranges. Thin feels a lot better than fat. But I don't get comparing it to how some foods taste. I've been hearing that expression for years. Does nothing for me but tick me off.

If you could give some insight would sure appreciate it.
