Moving Forward

I have to update this. I had bariatric (VSG) surgery on March 16, 2016. This is a new journey for me. The picture on the left is from a 3 1/2 years ago. I had gained a lot of weight since then.

I have to update this. I had bariatric (VSG) surgery on March 16, 2016. This is a new journey for me. The picture on the left is from a 3 1/2 years ago. I had gained a lot of weight since then.

From 2006-2008, I lost close to 70 pounds. Slowly, I put it back on. I stopped weighing myself and thought I was just invincible. When I went to my first appointment for surgery pre-clearance for VSG, I found out that I weighed much more than I imagined I did. It was a huge shock. I knew I was making the right decision to have surgery, based on my experience of gaining weight back after two years of working incredibly hard to reach my goal weight. I knew it would a constant struggle for me to go on and off diets. I also knew I want a family someday and I needed to be healthy first.

So, I am back on SP to connect with the community of others who are sharing this journey and life experience. It is important to have support, especially from those who understand (truly understand).

I recently started reading a book called Women, Food, & God. It is helping me understand how I have used food in the past as a spiritual replacement. It was/is my addiction.

I know I deserve to be healthy and happy and I am excited to be here on this adventure.

I am sooooo glad you are back and that the family issues are getting better. I am sorry you had to go through that rough time but I've been here all along for you, keeping you in my thoughts and hoping all was well.
