I Think I Can, I Think I Can

I don't know what has happened within me....but I think I can finally shed the unwanted weight. I think everyday that I go into my profession as a nurse in a hospital...I see the result of poor choices. I have been lucky so far....the roulette wheel hasn't stopped on me yet....so I am going to take advantage of my advantage and do something about losing weight, feeling better and looking the best that I can at 58!

My Goals:
I would like to be closer to a more normal weight AND better health by the middle of July 2010...my 40th high school reunion!!!! Stabilize and improve radically my blood pressure, my blood sugar and the numbers that look back to me on the scale.

My Program:
Make Sparkpeople a part of my life. There is SO MUCH here...I could only fail if I choose failure instead of success.
Exercise...do "something" 30 minutes a day...the pool, the Fitness Center, take a walk...."something"
Eat the foods I like....but that are also good for me...ex: strawberries, bananas, spinach, fish, chicken, vanilla soy milk, etc. See what I mean? Stay with the foods you like...you will be surprised at how many healthy choices you can make!

Personal Information:
I am living in the St. Louis area but I have lived most of my life by the beach....Port Orange, Florida, and the beaches near Ocean City, New Jersey. I am a beach girl :) I am the author of two books...Caught in the Net, a story of Internet addiction and romance by Sunshine44 AND Just Erase It, a spiritual approach to managing anxiety. I manage my vacation home rental located in the Daytona Beach area. I also work as a Registered Nurse two nights a week. I am the proud mother of four daughters and seven grandchildren.

Other Information:
As I was proofreading my page, I saw in print all of my accomplishments. If I can make websites, write books, care for the sick, WHY can't I take control over my body? I am going to find the secret to why food and me had become best friends? I thought a lot about it last night while at work...I am going to have to learn to SUBSTITUTE. You can't just take something away that has been a part of your life for sooo long....you have to substitute what you will perceive as a loss with something that will make you feel better.

One of the good things about getting older is the ability to see the big picture. This weight loss business is not an event but a long-term journey to a healthier life. Slow & steady.
