Hello there. Iím a 27 year old living in NYC. I have to date lost 80lbs and am struggling to loose the last 42. My main focus (now) isn't so much watching the scale go backwards as it is to build muscle, loose fat, and become a serious athlete.
So... it's been a while. I'll keep it brief. I got down to 148 and held that weight for about 2 years. I suddenly decided to move across country in Sept and since my move I am up 28lbs. I guess it has been much more stressful than I care to admit. Anyway, back on the ball I go! Hustle, hustle.... this bum isn't going to do away with itself! ;)
***Update 8/16/09*** I'm now up to 208 (you have gotta be freaking kidding me!) I'm so embarrassed. I've had a lot of things going on in my personal life and.... well, I did what I've always done, coped with food. No excuses. I know I've done this to myself. I'm in the process of finding a workout partner to help keep me accountable. Lets hope I finally get it right this time. Words of encouragement are welcome!
***UPDATE*** I'm now up to 198 and trying to get back on the ball. I've given up the idea of being a runner (for now anyway) and have began to focus on cycling. I'm so disappointed with myself, but hey lets use this as motivation.
I took up running a few years but have been struggling with injuries since last July. I have recently found out it is due to weakness. Let me explain. Overall I'm incredibly strong, however, I'm still moving and carrying myself as if I'm 260+lbs.. The reason, muscle memory. I developed severe weakness in my inner thigh, hip flexors, glut area, and ankles. I also have no stability what so ever in my pelvis (talk about back pain, nothing hurts more than a rocking spine....OUCH!). All of this is a result of unconsciously altering the way I moved to accommodate my massive weight gain.
Itís strange; Iím in more pain now than when I was 260+lbs! But, thatís all changing! My goal is to drop from 27.8% to 15% body fat. I know it won't be easy, but Iím sure with focus, motivation, and a great support group, I can do it!

It was so great to see your post. I wondered how you have been doing. I am celebrating my first wedding anniversary today, but it hasn't been easy. Lots of stuff going on that kept me off track too. However, slow and steady with lots of positive affirmations will hopefully put me on the right track again.
I wish you the very best. You can do this, you have before! I look forward to seeing us both progress!
