January 2010- can't believe I'm 40 now!
My pride and joy!!!
I want to see the fjords of Norway someday! I am part Norwegian.
Update as of 5/2/10: I have lost a total of 70 pounds so far. They are coming off more slowly now, but I'm not about to give up! Plateaus can be frustrating- I am definitely ready to move on and see those numbers dropping again.
As of 9/6/09: I have lost a total of 50 pounds now since the birth of my almost 12 month old!
July 23, 2009: I'm a 39 year old mom with 3 kids, and I homeschool them (I worked before I had kids). I have lost 37 pounds since the birth of my 3rd child 10 months ago, and I want to lose 76 more pounds. I have gained and lost weight with each pregnancy, and over the years my weight has gradually crept up. I've gained anywhere from 45-60 lbs with each pregnancy, but I've never lost all the weight permanently. My biggest weight loss was 70 lbs in the year after my first child was born. Unfortunately, with two more pregnancies, the weight came back, and I am now trying to lose it for good! I'm sick of being overweight, not having enough energy, and all the aches and pains that go with it. I hate shopping for clothes because it's depressing. I don't like the way anything looks on me, and I'm really sick of it! I have clothes in so many sizes, it's ridiculous! I want to lose weight and get to the size I was at when I was dating my husband 18 years ago. I was very happy at that weight, and I liked the way my clothes fit and looked. My metabolism seems to have slowed down a lot over the years. In high school I was just 115 lbs! I was actually a very fit athletic person before I had kids. In my youth, I competed in gymnastics, soccer, and track, and did running and aerobics in college. Yet somewhere along the line, I stopped regular, consistent exercise (had desk jobs after college), and started snacking carelessly and eating late at night with my husband. I never had a weight problem as a child or teen, just as an adult mother. I've lost weight many times, but it never seems to be permanent. I'm really hoping to lose weight and be happier and healthier in my 40s so I can be a more energetic and healthy mom, and so I can feel better about myself. I want to make lifelong lifestyle changes and incorporate consistent exercise and prudent food choices. I'm hoping that Sparkpeople will help me make permanent changes so I can reach my goals and stick with a healthy weight for the rest of my life. I'd like to connect with other moms who have a lot to lose, as well as with those who have already lost a lot and are still on their journey, trying to maintain their weight loss. I'm ready to stop the yo-yoing and get healthy! The fit and trim me is ready for her comeback!
My goal is to gradually and permanently lose 76 more pounds (I've lost 37 so far).
