So here I am 50 years old, mother of 3, and fat! Yes, fat!
After a recent doctors visit in which my bmi came out to be a portly 33 I finally had to admit to myself that I needed to make some changes. How could this have happened? I don't look fat and I don't feel fat yet this machine had me in the obese/ overweight range.
But wait, I HAVE been gaining about 2 lbs every year for a while now. So if that trend holds true......
I joined this site to stop this trend. I am sceptical of all diets and believe that it is a simple calculation of cal in and cal out. I don't need MORE information, I need LESS calorie consumption. Bottom line,I am eating too much.
For me its got to start with an attitude shift within myself closely followed by common sense action steps that fit with MY life style.
I signed onto Spark people to get some structure around my plans. I got more than that. I have discovered really bad habits and have started changing them one at a time.
using nutrition tracker...almost there,
fruits and vegetable...almost there.
But still no weight loss. I was ready to throw my hands up, but Spark friends came to the rescue. Their posts were daily reminders of what is possible.
Yesterday.... I finally did it. THE MACHINE read 153 , a whole pound less than when I started.
This one is for Eanghubhai,lynwyn, teacherk,maryam, njazz, maggiemae and the others on over 50 with 20 lbs to loose ( I can't loose a single lb thread). I used their humor, gentle guidance and honest reflection to help stay true to my own goals. Thank you guys.
1. 135 lbs by May of 10. Currently 154.
2 Waist measurement of 28 inches. Currently 33.
3. BMI of less than 25, Current bmi 33.6
1. Exercise 60 minutes aleast 6 days a week.
2. Add 5 servings of fruits/ veges a day
3. 64 ozs of water a day.
4 stp eating cheese
5. Start eaing breakfast
6 STOP late night noshing
