And Away I go

Hi,
So here I am 50 years old, mother of 3, and fat! Yes, fat!
After a recent doctors visit in which my bmi came out to be a portly 33 I finally had to admit to myself that I needed to make some changes. How could this have happened? I don't look fat and I don't feel fat yet this machine had me in the obese/ overweight range.
But wait, I HAVE been gaining about 2 lbs every year for a while now. So if that trend holds true......

Hi,
So here I am 50 years old, mother of 3, and fat!
I joined this site to stop this trend. I am sceptical of all diets and believe that it is a simple calculation of cal in and cal out. I don't need MORE information, I need LESS calorie consumption. Bottom line,I am eating too much.
For me its got to start with an attitude shift within myself closely followed by common sense action steps that fit with MY life style.
I signed onto Spark people to get some structure around my plans. I got more than that. I have discovered really bad habits and have started changing them one at a time.
Water consumption...check,
eating breakfast...check,
using nutrition tracker...almost there,
fruits and vegetable...almost there.
But still no weight loss. I was ready to throw my hands up, but Spark friends came to the rescue. Their posts were daily reminders of what is possible.
Yesterday.... I finally did it. THE MACHINE read 153 , a whole pound less than when I started.
This one is for Eanghubhai, lynwyn, teacherk, maryam, njazz, maggiemae and the others on over 50 with 20 lbs to loose ( I can't loose a single lb thread). I used their humor, gentle guidance and honest reflection to help stay true to my own goals. Thank you guys.

Thanks Mini for making me a friend.
Your times in lucknow reminds of the great doctors at KGMC during the period. Rember , Dr Kutty / DrAshaharish/ Dr kalyani Das of queen Mary, Dr Indu Vakhlu of Paedia , Dr CG Agarwal and Manoj Mitra of Medicine. I am sure some of them must have been associated with you as teachers.
Yes, there comes a time in life when children get settled and and one is left alone in the nest of life ,but that is the way life is.
By the way which city in the US you are based in. I have my younger brother and sister settled in Cincinnati.
Thanks again and have great time.

Are you perchance from India? Where do you presently live? I am so nosy! Have you ever been to the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh? Do you know of Swami Chidananda who was President and recently left the body?

Thanks for stopping by -- let's be friends!
