Wow! Your story is so inspiring. Your sons must be very proud of you and how far you've come on your own. Many women don't have the strength to leave a useless relationship. You definitely do deserve to do something nice for yourself!
I don't know your physical situation, but if you're feeling tired, cold, find it impossible to lose weight unless you're eating an unhealthy amount of calories, among many other symptoms, I would recommend whenever you're able to, to go to the doctor and get your blood work done, and ask them to check your thyroid. It takes years for it to develop. You don't have to suffer if this is the case. I always like sharing this with people when they say no matter how active, or malnourished they are they are still gaining weight. I wish someone brought this up to me sooner as I am hypothyroid and I thought I was going crazy before I got a diagnosis. There may be a medical reason for this, aside from stress.
