I have been involved with each and every branch of the military services as either as an employee or volunteer worker. While attending Central Texas College in Paralegal Studies, I worked at the United States Air Force Legal Office and the United States Army Legal Office, traveling throughout northern Germany and the Benelux Region. While working for Lockheed Martin Logistics Management in Germany I was TDY to Bosnia, Hungary and Croatia during Joint Guard and Joint Forge with the Stabilization Force. I have been married for 30+ years. I am the mother of 2 adult children. My son is serving in the U.S. Navy and a daughter is married to an U.S. Air Force member. I have been a resident of 10 states and 1 US territory. I have also had the pleasure to live, work, and play in 22 countries. During my travels I have visited 42 of the 50 states. I currently volunteer for our wounded warriors as the founder and president of a non profit. During all of this I put on 30 pounds to much. This past November Fluoroquinolone Toxicity/Poisoning took over my life. Within 3 days of taking the antibiotic I could barely walk. Every tendon/joint in my body hurt. In early January I was frustrated with not being able to live the way I had been and decided I needed to find a way to fight back. It had to be something very low impact, since every moment was painful. January we bought an elliptical but after 5 minutes the pain was back. I was so ticked off that I went from lifting 70 pound boxes almost daily to a 80 year old woman and the elliptical had to be my way out. It is amazing what you can do when anger takes over. Every day for a month that elliptical and I had our time; 5 minutes at a time, some times 2 or 3 times a day. Then one day I realized it was not as painful so I increased the elliptical time to 7 to 10 minutes each time. It was slow going and not without some tears and tylenol for pain but I am proud that 5 months later I can do 25 minutes. I lost the 20 pounds I gained right after the poisoning and another 10 to boot. My shoulder joint never healed after the poisoning and due to the pain, the joint froze up. I am scheduled for surgery next month to repair the damage. The surgeon and physical therapist have explained the 4 day surgical procedure and the recover process afterwards but after what I have been through the last 8 months I am sure this will be a walk in the park.
