I'm a 5'3, 37-year-old woman who re-joined SparkPeople after two weeks of dieting on my own in September 2009 because I knew this community was full of encouragement and activity. I lost weight at a pretty good clip until March 2010, when I got sidetracked by intensely negative emotions and life in general. All spring and for the first half of that summer, I re-gained weight.

I finally got started again in July 2010, only 10 lbs down from my highest weight of 203. January 2011 was a month of dealing with depressed feelings and a slight regain, but I managed to get things under control more quickly than I did in 2010, and by the end of 2011 I was down to about 132 lbs.

However, 2012 ended up being a year of holding steady/slight regain, and 2013 brought extremely stressful personal circumstance. I regained a lot of weight. At the dawn of 2014, I started following Medifast's Take Shape for Life plan with the help of a health coach. I followed that plan until June 2014, when I could no longer afford to order the special food. Since then, I've been counting calories.

I added a basic running program to my regimen in early fall of 2014 and have gradually been working on losing my last 10 - 15 lbs. As of 2015 I'm still counting calories and doing 20-30 minutes of exercise about 6 days per week.

My Goals:
To lose 80 lbs and get down to around a size 6 . . .

To be able to jog 3 miles straight again . . . DONE!

To fit into clothes that don't look like someone attacked them with a bedazzler . . . DONE!

My Program:
Calorie maximum of 1600/day. I am NOT afraid to eat near the top of my range. In fact, I usually do!

Currently I run 4 days per week for about 30 minutes, and do a strength-training DVD for 2 days.

Inspiring thought from SP member SPOTLIGHTANGEL:

"You aren't here, on Sparkpeople, because you're NOT good enough and want to lose weight to become "good enough"...you are really here because YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO REALIZE THAT THE OUTSIDE SHOULD FINALLY MEET ALL THE WONDERFUL GOODNESS ON THE INSIDE."

Thank you!! We are getting married in the first week of May! It's coming up so soon - but just like you - my guy and I have been together for years! Just a new beautiful chapter!!!
I hope that you'll see me around spark lots more as I train for that ultimate marathon - the walk down the aisle!

Wow, we really DO have a lot in common! And I really do want to thank you sharing with me, because it feels like so few people understand the non-career-chasing, unmarried, child-free, late-bloomer thing we've got going on. Feeling like an alien is EXACTLY the right description! We'll have to talk more at length about this, if you're willing. I'm so curious to know how you arrived at such circumstances. (Some of mine have been intentional choices, but others have been life's unexpected turns.)

Hey, sweetie, thanks for the amazing vote of confidence! I will get back there for sure. (Honestly, I think some of it is my new digestion problems wreaking havoc anyway.) I am indeed OK after my bike accident. Still some sore spots, nearly a month later I think (sheesh!) but no broken anything except my pesky pride. emoticon

Hope you're well! Your last pictures look absolutely fantastic. emoticon
