Getting healthy in Michigan

I am attempting to rejuvenate my body after years of abusing it. I am 35 yrs old and until 39 days ago I was a binge drinker for the past 18 yrs, and until 8 days ago I was a pack a day smoker. I am hoping to get in shape so I can live a longer, healthier life for my wife and children.

Hi Mike, just wanted to stop by and say welcome to SparkPeople! This is an awesome website filled with more information than you can imagine! Congratulations on your quitting drinking....that is just wonderful (I am an alcoholic, sober now 22 years). It is a battle that you need to be mindful of constantly and remember to just take baby steps...you'll get to those goals your setting for yourself. And I see by your picture on your page here that you have 2 beautiful reasons to get and stay healthy!
