Diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in 1998, and then with Fibromyalgia in 2000, I found my weight would climb or fall based on the pain levels I had. (Since pain is often high, so is my weight.)

For the past three years, I've wanted to get healthy--lose the weight, get in shape, be active, but every time I start to do it, something comes up (I got pneumonia two years in a row, then last year, I fell while trail walking and messed up my right knee).

Instead of bouncing back from those things, I allowed myself to let them run the rest of my life. But I'm tired of saying it's time to get healthy. Fighting through pain isn't easy--I've done it in the past. Now however, I have better goals, feel stronger, and have more to live for than ever before. I'm determined to take better care of myself (set reasonable goals, don't get overwhelmed by "having to lose weight," be firm and gentle with myself, allow myself time to drop weight--instead of flying high, then crashing as I typically do).

I found the vine in my pic up on a mountain, in winter. Nothing else "green" (except for pines) was flourishing, but this vine was full of berries, hanging on over the edge of a cliff. Now that's tenacity, strength, and determination to live--no matter the odds or difficulties!

I'm working on a book that I want to see published. Part of my weight-loss journey is to get healthy enough that WHEN my dreams DO come true, that I'll be able to enjoy the rewards.

I want to BE healthy--be that inner person I know is just waiting to get out. Just like the vine, it's time for me to live!

Focus in what I can eat/do/be instead of what I can't


My Program:
Couch to 5k program

Interspersed with bike riding, other cardio, dance dvd's, strength training dvd's

And if I get really brave, I may try out a gym
