Patience/Persistence
At 77 I have tried numerous diets and it seems that the only way that a "diet" will work is if it isn't called a diet, but a healthy food plan. I've tried everything else - loss of weight will aid my arthritis at least.

My Goals:
For me, a weight loss would mean less strain on my joints, blood pressure, and ability to exercise on a regular basis. But - perhaps important also, my clothes are getting tight and I refuse to go up a size!
My Program:
Tracking my meals seems to be the magic item for me. I can't believe how much I didn't know. Also, drinking more water than Tonic, and perhaps as important as tracking, having no chocolate, cookies and other sweets in the house. I'm never hungry enough for them to go out to the store and buy them.
Personal Information:
I have been an office clerk, a switchboard operator, a long-distance operator, a grad student, a nun, a teacher, secondary school, college. Then having left the community, I was a teacher, a receptionist again, an understudy for the secutities dept. manager of a large insurance company, the author of a pet column for a little newsletter, had a private shelter for over 15 years, mostly for cats, was a (horse) ring and farm call photographer and a personal aid assistent. Now, retired, I am teaching again but on a one to one basis. I get great delight in helping adults to read and write. Lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, New York and Florida. And, yes, I've been around the internet and nowhere have I found a website that is so full of important information and warm and welcoming people. I must say "Thanks for being there".
Other Information:
I have found that living in the moment has changed my life. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't come yet. All we can really count on is this one precious moment. I am learning to concentrate on the moment I have - so my suggestion for you who take the time to read this is Stay in the Now.
