Hi, I'm Melanie. I'm 39 years old, and I've been here at Spark off and on for about 3 years.
I lost 22 pounds in 2009 just before getting pregnant with my 7th child. I gave up healthy eating and exercise during that pregnancy in lieu of many, many doughnuts :(....but, I'm back at Spark trying to regain some of the momentum I had that summer.
I discovered jazzercise in April of this year (2011), thanks to a fabulous, jazzer-loving friend. It's changed my life (see blog). I love dancing to lose weight and tone, and I miss it when I can't go. It has definitely become my go-to workout. I do a little walking/ jogging on the side. Other than that, it's jazzing all the way, baby.
I've always had a fear of setting goals; probably because it's too much accountability. Once I've spoken it, it's out there; it has to be done. So, I've been a coward when it comes to the long haul.
I've recently taken up jazzercise, and I love, love, love, love it! It's pretty much all I do nowadays, with an occasional walk thrown in here and there. It's a total body workout. I'm seeing muscles I didn't even know I had! I've been going to classes for a month now...can't wait to see how jazz will tone and shape me in the next few months.
I live in Omaha, NE with my fabulous husband, 6 beautiful daughters, and a son.
I love to read when I have the time, er, which is never. I talk too much. I laugh REALLY loudly. I'm not as affectionate as I wish...just not natural for me, I guess, but I'm working on it. I am very social, and when I spend too much time at home, it shows in my mood.
I strive to be a good mom; to teach my kids about character and what it means to follow God's Word. I have lots of experience with depression and anxiety....crummy, but those experiences draw me closer to the Lord Jesus Christ in ways nothing else does.

None of us (at least in this culture) are prepared for what death is really like. And it seems like most people can't handle hearing about it.

Aww, thanks, Reece. It means a lot to me when people notice and care enough to say, 'good job'! I'm working hard...er, most of the time. But, the weight is coming off, slowly but surely. You MUST try jazzercise when you get some energy back after this baby...it'll keep you faithful when you haven't been with other programs, believe me, I'm proof. Thanks for stopping by, girlie.
