Hey everyone! Thank you for visiting my page!

I am a 23-year-old college student majoring in English Lit/Creative Writing. I just joined Sparkpeople and so far, it has helped tremendously by making me accountable for the junk I feed my body sometimes!

I am a 23-year-old college student majoring in English Lit/Creative Writing. I just joined Sparkpeople and so far, it has helped tremendously by making me accountable for the junk I feed my body sometimes!

Losing weight for me has much more to do with wanting to improve my health than wanting to be skinny. I was diagnosed with prediabetes at 17, PCOS at 18, and high blood pressure at 21 when I was weighing in at 217.

It finally hit me that if I didn't start learning how to eat right and exercising, my health would continue to deteriorate. So in January 2010, I decided to try. Over the next year, I lost 40 pounds: hair stopped growing where it shouldn't, my face wasn't covered in acne and aunt flow came on time every month! (If you have pcos, you know how AWESOME that is!)

Unfortunately.. I was too convinced that my PCOS was cured and stopped taking my Metformin. Viola! I started watching my weight slowly come back and instead of hitting the gym, I kept eating and drinking. A lot.

I gained back 20 of my 42 pounds. My "skinny jeans" looked like spandex and the muffin top is NOT flattering.

So here I am again. This time, I'm going to do it right. I am going to follow a balanced diet of healthy foods and try to minimize processed foods.

Hopefully in six months, I'll be able to say "I DID IT!!"
