Getting Healthy and Enjoying Life

This is my second go-round with following an exercise and eating plan and losing weight. I've been heavy ranging to obese most of my adult life. In 2005, I reached my goal weight of 170lbs, but then over the next six years, gained back all the weight I had lost and then some. A bulging disk, spinal spondylosis and arthritis in my back—all leading to some pretty extreme back pain—have taught me that keeping that weight off is not an option; if I want to enjoy life, I need to exercise, carry less ...

I work out at the gym 3-5 days a week, and do farm labor on our little recreational property on the weekends. We live in Seattle and walk everywhere, up and down the hills. I use the nutritional tracker and am currently focusing on getting enough protein and going alcohol-free.
