Had to respond to something you posted on NYTERYDER's bog. First off congrats on an eight mile walk and second.... when you exercise more than you are accustomed to.. you are actually tearing muscle fibers... which is good.. and the body cushions the injury with water... so it isn't unheard of to not show a loss and even to show a gain. That said....the weight is just water and will go away and new stronger muscle will be built. So be proud of yourself please. 50 days ago

Coach Dean is the best! I actually read his story yesterday and wrote about it in my blog from yesterday. I never knew his story until yesterday. I just liked his articles. Now he's a huge inspiration to me. He too suffered with anxiety and depression, among other ailments, prior to his fitness journey. 60 days ago
Awww thank you for the welcoming comment. Im glad somebody else understands how I feel with the depression and anxiety. I have been as active as I can be right now. I have so many things to work on but I know I need to take it one day at a time. I do realize that having the community is the one of the best things on this site. I know I have to be more into it. All I can do is try; I think I have read the mind over body articles in the past but I couldn't remember what the name was so thanks so much for the link. Its like you read my mind 61 days ago
I deal with depression and anxiety too. SP has actually helped me that as well as weight loss. I'm glad that you've come back! I have come and gone before too, but I'm much more involved in the community now and I think that will keep from leaving again. In the past couple of weeks, my nutrition and exercise haven't been the best, but I'm still here and I'm still interacting with the community. It's the best foundation you can have. Even if you stop everything else, keep active here and in time you will rebuild your success on the foundation of the community.

Welcome to SparkPeople! Four pieces of advice from my own experience:
1. Make 1-3 small changes each week and build on them. Many times people try to make a bunch of changes or some very big changes right away, and when they aren't successful with those changes, they get frustrated and lose hope. You didn't get to where you are overnight. Don't expect to get fit and healthy overnight either!
2. Long term goals like, "I want to lose 50 pounds" are great, but you need to set intermediate (monthly) and short-term (weekly or daily) goals. When you establish these goals, also set up a system to reward yourself for achieving your goals.
3. Be active in the community. Join SparkTeams and post in the message boards. Blog regularly. Seek out and add new friends. The SparkPeople community is wonderfully supportive and encouraging. If it wasn't for the community, I'd have given up hope and quit a long time ago.
4. Reward yourself for successes, but do NOT punish yourself for mistakes! EVERYONE here has eaten too much, or skipped their scheduled exercises. Forget about it and move on. You can't change what you've done, but you can keep trying to do better. None of us are perfect. Strive for progress, not perfection!
