Still Here...Still Working...Still Struggling

Wow!!! Reading though my past intros and all I can say is, "WOW!!!" I didn't even remember that from January -September 2008 I had lost nearly 20 pounds. Now I'm sitting here trying to remember the last time I was even IN the 130s. For the last several months I have been at or above the 155-pound mark. I am, quite literally, the heaviest I have ever been. *sigh* But reading through my past intros just reinforces that I CAN do it...because I HAVE done it before.

I am, quite literally, the heaviest I have ever been. *sigh* But reading through my past intros just reinforces that I CAN do it...because I HAVE done it before.

I've got two pounds lost under my belt in just the last week and hope to continue that going forward to my first 10 pounds gone by the middle of April. Then I'm going to work toward a second ten-pound weight loss by the end of May. And finally, hoping to hit a healthy weight at about 130 pounds. I can do this, right? Of course I can!

Well, 2012 came and went and I suppose the good news is that I didn't gain any weight; the bad news is that I didn't lose any either. I'm so disappointed in myself. I was doing WONDERFUL with BFL up unitl I started the house-buying process almost two years ago. I was 10 pounds from goal. TEN. POUNDS. FROM. GOAL. Then I let...I ALLOWED...the stress of buying a house get the best of me and I threw all of my healthy habits out the window.

Well, here I am, almost two years later. I just renewed my gym membership for another 18 months. And I'm planning to make the most of those 18 months. I've restarted C25K and should be finished with it in time for my first 5K of the year toward the end of March. I still haven't added any strength-training into my workout program, though. I know! I know! It's important to lift weights AND do cardio. I just am not there yet. And I can accept that. Maybe the first of February will bring on a renewed love for strength training.

My goal for the moment is to be down 10% of my body weight by my birthday at the end of April. That's about 5 pounds a month. TOTALLY. ACHIEVABLE!

Getting serious, again. Going to the gym at least 5 days a week and back to watching what I eat. Just under 10 lbs to go by the end of the year-and hoping to maintain a 30 lb weight loss by my 30th birthday in April. IT CAN BE DONE!!!

Almost two years on this site and I have learned SO much! I've been hanging around my goal for the last year, going up 5 lbs then back down. I'm FINALLY within reach of my goal and plan to hit it sometime in the next few weeks. *fingers crossed*

I'm a single mom. I work full-time. And finding the balance between everything has been really hard. I haven't been very active on this site since the beginning of the year, but have still managed to maintain SOME of my healthy habits.

I quit smoking about 9 months ago. I now consider myself to be a runner. I find that when I'm feeling down, a run will usually help perk me up a bit. I'm still searching for who I am, but I think every day I get closer to figuring out who that is.

Here's the intro I authored on my Springfield Sparkers forum--enjoy: Um, my name is Mel and I like to think that I'm a comedian. Usually I introduce myself as an alcoholic (which I'm NOT) but I didn't want to offend anyone. I don't think I've added my intro to Springfield Sparkers yet (I suffer from some-timers--some times I remember things and sometimes I don') so here goes. I started my "lifestyle change" very lazily in February. I worked out two to three days a week at school for eight weeks and only lost ONE POUND! It was then that I decided that I needed to get a handle on my eating habits before I could start losing any weight. After doing a Google search I ran across CalorieCheckbook.com (around April 4). The first coouple of months of watching what I ate went well...then school let out and summer arrived. Since January I have, to date, lost almost 20 pounds!!! I was referred to this site by a friend and I can honestly say I'm addicted. I log on every day even though I'm still trying to figure out and use all of the handy little resources. My problem now isn't my eating as much as it is my exercise (or lack there of). I had been going for 20-minute daily walks, but the weather that last few days has put a damper on that. I own a yoga ball (Swiss ball, whatever it's called) and a set of 3- or 5-pound weights but I can't ever seem to make myself exercise at home. Today I had plenty of time but I scrapbooked instead (with good reason though, I'm making a baby gift and the baby shower is September 25!). I guess I'll quit rambling on and on. :0)

My name is Mel and I'm a 27-year old alcoholic. Just kidding. Over the last couple of years I've really started to enjoy trying new recipies, mostly dessert. I was 110 pounds up unitl 5 years ago when I got pregnant. About two years after my daughter was born I was able to get back down to a size 4. I quit working in restaurants in 2005 and have gradually gained weight since, taking on sit-on-my-butt-all-day jobs. This January I reached 150 pounds and decided it was time to make a change. I'm down to 135 now. If I could lose 5 more pounds I would be happy; 10 more and I would be excited! I got engaged this past July so it would be nice to look FABULOUS in my wedding dress (even though the wedding is TWO years away and I don't even HAVE a wedding dress yet!). My fiance is a wonderful support for me and I am truly lucky to have him in my life. Having children (or one, as is my case) really makes you realize how impressionable their little minds can be. Arwen already eats healthier than I ever have, enjoying broccoli, cottage cheese, all sorts of fresh fruits for snacks instead of "junk" food. It's important for me to set a good example for her so that she doesn't struggle like I have in my adult life. I'm battling a bit of a funk right now but hope to get back into the swing of things real soon! I found this website throug a wonderful online friend on CalorieCheckbook.com (thanks Jenni_Bell!) and I'm excited to see what this site can do to help keep me motivated!
