I'm on a mission to get healthy. To me, that means eating in a more balanced way throughout the day. This is instead of going all day and then eating everything in sight after dinner. It also means getting back to working out on a regular basis. I used to run 3-12 miles per day, but have completely dropped off the workout bandwagon. Healthy also means changing in such a way that these things become habit, rather than "I shoulds." And, if that means I lose some weight and meet that goal, it would be an excellent by-product.

My Goals:
I'd like to eat a balanced diet, which probably hasn't happened since my mom was still cutting the corn off the cob for me.

I'd also like to get back into the habit of running regularly, possibly running a marathon with my husband. Beating him would be a perk, too.

I said when I started this that I'd like to lose 20 pounds. I'm not certain if that is very realistic or not, but I've been there before so I don't see it as unattainable, either.

My Program:
I'm planning to eat between 1200 and 1600 calories per day. A big part of this for me is making sure the meals are adequately balanced and contain the appropriate nutrients. I've been a vegetarian for 8 years, but was never really taught how to make that transition in a healthy way. I'm also planning to make myself work out. Although this would ideally be running, I also recognize that forcing myself to do it when I don't want to will feel like punishment, so I'm ok with walking or doing pilates on the days when I'm just not feeling it.
