I lost about 20 lbs with Spark People in 2007 and have kept it off. I still have about 10 to lose but weight loss is no longer my primary focus so I remain pretty much in maintenance mode. Someday I'll refocus on weight loss and start tracking food again but for now I'm happy to be healthy, active, and visiting my local wine store regularly again! Nothing like a 2006 Argentinian malbec to put everything back in perspective, right?
I love the half marathon distance and try to do 3 to 5 races at that distance a year. Having a race to train for keeps me motivated and on the run (I slay me!). Trail running has become my number 1 passion, and as my trail running buddy says, it's become my 'resting state' where everything else fades away and I feel strong and capable. In the winter I spend a lot of energy working to improve my telemark technique in the back country and my bf and I try to fit in a couple winter camping weekends each year.
All my pics seem to be about outdoor pursuits which I love, love, love but I've also been known to get girlied up and hit the bar for martinis and dancing. I'm thrilled to see live dance performed so I'll see lots of what comes to town, including dance on film and video, or theatre.
Maintain or maybe lose a few pounds while increasing speed and strength. Stay happy!
I run, a lot, with my preference being for trails, but a city run will do in a pinch. I also love to hike and camp, sometimes cycle and sometimes get to the gym for weights. I switch up rare days of indulgence with more days of accountability, and try to enjoy being active and healthy as much as possible - how ever that plays out in my day to day choices. Because after all, a healthy life is also social and giggly and sweet enough to have only one bite but you have two anyway.
Living in Vancouver, BC. PhD student in Environmental Studies in what I hope is my final year. Ovo-lacto vegetarian for nine years now, and very happy and healthy this way, thank you very much.
Currently reading The Book of Negroes (who isn't?), and Saramago's The Cave. I've made a decision - finally - to claim Saramago as my favourite author but I know that makes me sound pretentious as all get out, so let's keep that between you and me, mmkay?

Hey Meg! Great to hear from you, lady! Sorry I have been remiss about stopping by your page.
We are actually having no issue eating up all our CSA wonderfulness :). I am thinking your boxes must be bigger. It really motivates us to eat in.
How do you make spinach hummus? Do you cook it first or use it raw? Other than that do you just add tahini, lemon, garlic, etc, like normal? I made a black eyed pea hummus once we ran out of the chic pea, it is pretty good. I think Jake's consumption has slowed a bit (thank goodness) since the novelty of having a boat load has ebbed.
How has your summer been? Are you doing any crazy racing distances? What about travel? Did you guys get to go away at all? We are so broke that there are no travel plans.
