I can't stop getting old, but I can stop getting fat.

I have always been physically active, but eat like crap. I had no idea how/what to eat and I always ate what was in front of me (and everyone else). I wouldn't eat during the day, then at night I would EAT.

After 48 months with SP I now understand a lot more about what/how I should be eating. I'm in no real hurry to get to my 160 goal weight, after all I have a life time of healthy eating ahead of me.

My name is Michael. I am 43 and currently living in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Family man, married for 18 years. I have 3 kids Victoria is 15, Andrew is 14, and Zechariah(1st born) is forever 12. I love playing soccer and running. After turning 30 I have had a real hard time keeping my weight down. Hit 200 lbs in 2005 for the first time in my life.

glad to find another guy interested in a running and avoiding fat gain, i have never run, but been inspired by my sparkfriend BILLALEX70 to take on this challenge of running a half marathon in 2010, lets support each other in reaching this goal and losing a few more pounds along the way

WOW---I am very impressed! You are the ONLY one who knew about Now, Voyager. Are you sure you aren't 85 years old? Just kidding. Are you a movie buff, Bette Davis fan or just smart? Maybe you are all three! I adore Bette Davis, that is the young Bette, not the pathetic Bette of the 1960's horror films. Have you seen her in Jezebel? Dark Victory? The Letter? TCM is my favorite channel. And Now, Voyager has special meaning for me, and once helped me over a rough time in my life.
Anyhow, thank you very much for responding. Happy to join you and the other SV people as Spark People.

Hey Michael, I was wondering if you have had any knee problems in your running career. I don't know if I should see a doctor or not. I don't want to waste the money for them to tell me to rest it and use ice and....... I have been to the doctor for two other problems last year to hear each time they had no answer for me and it is a waste of time and money and a super frustration for me. I went for the walk on Sat and did the whole 10 laps. Then on Sun I had discomfort in my right knee almost all day. I used the ibuprofen and ice during the day. I REALLY want to get back to jogging and don't know if I should wait until I am totally pain free to start . Can I keep walking while I am getting sore? I am sorry you may not have any suggestions for me, it is just frustrating. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated!
