Welcome

I donít want to die early of
heart disease or diabetes

I want to be a good role model for my girls

I want to look good in my jeans, not like an old lady

I want to be in control my eating, not have it control me

I want to feel great and sleep well

My Program:
I am counting calories, exercising consistently (working up to increasing exercise intensity & time) and following the Beck Diet Solution

I am doing cross fit 3 times per week and trying to get on the elliptical or run another time or two. I feel a lot stronger

I have been listening to the Beck Diet Solution on the way to work. But I find that I often am lost in my own thoughts and I am going to track down the book and read it, and DO THE EXERCISES!

Personal Information:
I knit, read, garden, cook, make cheese, and run here in the Pacific Northwest. I live in a smallish town with my husband, two teen girls, a brown dog and a flock of chickens.

Eileen, your message on the Beck check-in brought tears to my eyes. And they needed them. Thanks for the loving mom energy. It's giving me permission to be gentle with myself today, acknowledge how tired and stressed I've been and lower the bar a little bit. For today, if I just do no harm, it will be a good day.

You remind me of one of my favorite poems ~
The tender words we say to one another
are stored in the secret heart of heaven.

ULTRAMARATHONS! Wow. I'm in awe. I like the going to bed slightly hungry approach. Think it's making for better sleep I thank you for that! emoticon

Who knew you could bring your own food to the fair! emoticon That's excellent that your daughter showed chickens at the fair. That's my favorite part, the kids showing their animals.

I had half a whole wheat oat flour elephant ear, as planned, enjoyed it immensely after I had my lunch salad and ended the day within my calorie and macronutrient goals. A good day.

Wow, Eileen, you are emoticon emoticon emoticon ! Thank you for your comments on my Beck blog. It's nice to have some experience from the other side before starting through the hunger experiment. It was really clear from making the discomfort scale that hunger is NEVER an extreme discomfort. The funny thing about fasting for a long time is that hunger pangs do disappear into indifference. Again, it's the unskillful thoughts that get me! emoticon

I especially appreciate your comment that snacking to avoid hunger in any form is not a good idea. That never has or would have occurred to me but as you brought it up, I can see how it would be undermining. I will add a card to my file that snacking is for replenishing after exercise. I've observed the benefits of going to bed slightly hungry but it never occurred to me to purposely strive for that.

Thanks for helping yet again! emoticon emoticon

You are so emoticon !!! Had to thank you for your comments on Beck goal setting and rewarding yourself along the way. I've been feeling bad about my weight and wearing my hubbies old jeans and shirts. I have one pair of jeans in a larger size and they have bleach spots from unskillful cleaning. I am going to get myself an attractive outfit so I can feel good on the journey to emoticon .
