Me & my sweetie - Mar 09
This was me at 172 lbs in 2004. Not perfect, but I'd be happy to be there again...or maybe just a little more fit.
Well, while this journey has been a struggle at times(...ok, ALL of the time...LOL!), looking back, it has been worth every drop of sweat and ounce of willpower. Don't get me wrong...I am only about halfway to where I want to be weight-wise, and less than that for my fitness. It seemed to be really just creeping along, and then I looked back over the year and foud that I have lost 32 pounds, and I am working out (and actually enjoying it!) a little every day now. Suddenly, I realized that no matter how slowly it is going...it IS going. I just have to try to stay focused on that. Easier said than done! Still, I have great friends who are always encouraging, which really makes all the difference in the world! So, here we go.....
My weight goals are:
167 lbs by May 2010.
My other goal is to pass my next (1 mile walk test) in Aug 2010.
I am attending spin classes in the morning Mon-Wed-Fri. I've started doing a bit of free weights for the first time in about 5 years. I don't believe in "dieting" anymore...it just becomes a crutch for me. Then, when I tire of a diet, I gain it all back plus a few more pounds for my trouble. Done with that! I am learning (through the nutrition diary here) how to make good choices and just live well. So far, it's going away slowly, but I'm still happy with that. After all, it didn't attach itself to my hips overnight, either...LOL!
I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio (go Reds & Bengals!!). I have lived in a few different places, and currently reside in Hawaii on the beautiful island of Oahu...LOVE it! The beautiful weather makes me feel like getting out & moving more (which is a wonderful thing!), and the scenery leaves me feeling very peaceful & in harmony with the world. Corny, but true...this is just the most amazing place I have ever been...second only to Wales & England. :-)
I love to read (mysteries are a long time fave), quilt, craft, scrapbook (when time permits...not often...LOL!) and paint, etc... I love the ocean, but haven't been scuba diving or kayaking yet. That may be one of my rewards...in a bikini, no less...or not! :-)
