My name in Melanie and I live in Phoenix, AZ. I have had my ups and downs with food, dieting and healthy living since I was about 14 ..... yo yo dieting is an unfortunate thing I struggle with and every year, I tell myself this is the year to stop. I will finally hit a weight that I am happy with HEALTHILY and I will maintain it .... and every year, I get to that healthy weight and gain it back within a few months and do it all over again.

I struggle with staying motivated, especially when I do finally hit that goal weight .... all of a sudden I am at a weight I want to be at and find myself working out less and eating more, spiraling myself back into that powerful yo yo cycle when I gain weight and stop fitting into my clothes.

My goal is to finally hit a weight that I am happy with and my clothes stop hating me from straining their threads to fit. I want to be at a weight where I can walk into my closet and choose from any of my clothes instead of having to figure out what will fit me that day, that week, that month. I want to maintain my athletic ability and to stop starting over because I lose motivation.

I love outdoor activities (running, skiing, volleyball, touch football, etc) and have the most fun when I'm outside .... when it doesn't feel like a work out. I ran my first marathon in 2007 and have been hooked, always training for some half marathon or looking for a fun 5k to do with friends.

I find when I stay active on Sparkpeople, then I am the most conscience of what I'm eating and how much I am working out .... so enjoy reading through my experience!

You know me so well... I was supposed to get a pedicure today with Trish, but I'm too busy at work this week, so it's postponed. Thank you for the virtual version! :) Keep up the good insanity workouts! The next time we see each other, we're both going to look hot... well hotter than we already are of course.

Thanks for the friend add. It's nice to meet someone in Canton. Do you go to the Merritt gym? The new MAC gym in Fells Point looks awesome but we are locked in with Merritt at the moment. You are SO lucky that you got to go to Israel on a birthright program. It wasn't until I started to do research for my trip that I found out I could've gone to Israel for FREE when I was younger! Ugh! Oh well. I am really excited about it. My husband and I are planning to go this spring -- probably/hopefully sometime in May.

I actually trained with Team in Training, the largest endurance training program that raises money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The most important thing I learned is NOT to over train. I actually got 2 injuries during the training process and was still able to finish the full race in less than 5 hours. I ran about 3-4 times a week, running between 3-7 miles during the week and then a long distance run on the weekend never going over 20 miles (trust me, if you can run 20, you can run 26.2!)
