A New Me in 2008

I have been on a diet for the last 2 decades . . . but no more. It is a lifestyle change for me. SparkPeople is the place to make this change. I hope to make this a family affair if I can get them motivated.

Laura:

Monday is a great day to really kick it into OverDrive by writing a blog! I challenge you to escape those traditional 7 to 10 pounds over the holidays by having a plan. Step 1: Set up a plan.

What are your goals for the next 3 weeks?

Check out my blog from today to get an idea! Step 2: Work the plan!

Ralph Marston said . . . "Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality."

Let's make a plan and bring it to reality this holiday season!!

It is a fruity food fight . . . you've just been hit with a juicy bunch of grapes . . . so enjoy an extra fruit or vegetable today.

As part of the September SLC Sparkers Back 2 School - Back 2 the Basics, I am encouraging everyone to eat a minimum of 5 fruits/vegetables each day . . . 5 a day for improved health! So I have tagged you to start todayís fruity food fight.

emoticon emoticon emoticon Oops those can get messy!

The challenge is for you to eat an extra fruit or vegetable right now . . . then pass on the fruity food fight to another Salt Lake City Sparker. Let's get everyone involved to enjoy some fresh fruits or vegetables before the cool weather puts an end to our delicious local produce.

Remember to join the Team Goal and track your progress on eating 5 fruits/vegetables each and every day! It is key for achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Dear Laura:

I was reviewing my progress the past two weeks and I thought I would check on your progress. So I am here to ask you a question to get you reflecting on your progress:

What would you aspire to, if you KNEW you could not fail?

Thatís my question of the day. We limit ourselves in so many ways. Our heads are filled with ideas of what is not possibleófor us, or for anyone. And yet the leaders and shapers of the world dare to dream beyond those limits. Sometimes they fail . . . they donít stop trying, do they? Sometimes we donít achieve our goals. So what? We can handle the disappointment . . . then pick up ourselves, shake it off, and try again. (Ummmm, I think my mother use to say this all the time when we were trying to walk . . . good thing we did or we would all be crawling around on all fours.)

So take time out today to re-claim your dreams. Ask yourself: What would you aspire to if you KNEW you could not fail? Choose goals that help you achieve those dreams. Begin to move toward them. Find role models to provide visualization of success. Pick out 2 or 3 people on SP that have been successful, like Nicole who was featured on Good Morning America today.

I have selected KEEGANDLILY as one of my visual reminders that success is possible. Her before photo reminds me of what I look like at a starting point. I created a computer generated image of how I might look like when I have lost 100 pounds, but it does not seem possible. Then I look at KEEGANDLILYíS photo on the cover of Womanís Day and I realize what is possible.

Review their blogs, meal and fitness tracker, goals, or just use their photo as a visual reminder that success is possible. We can succeed as others have succeeded. Donít let our fears or past failures limit us in our effort. Reflect on your emotions and subconscious fears . . . try to put them into perspective. Donít make a problem or a momentary failure more than they are.

And every day, celebrate the joy of sheer existence. I am grateful for you in my life. Thank you for being my friend and sister.

Dear Laura:

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The upcoming Motherís Day provides a perfect opportunity to the women in my life. Have you ever noticed that women take care of others before they care for themselves? I am sure that this has something to do with biological functions, probably ingrained into our caring behaviors as children, but you need not have had a child to be a caring and loving woman and thus ďmother others!Ē

Therefore, I wanted to express my appreciation for you in my life. Thank you for being you!

So often I meet women who say I am just a homemaker. Wow, that is a full time job in itself. Then I meet women who work one or two full time jobs, one being a homemaker, as well. It amazes me to see so many women who raise a family, cook, clean, and provide a shoulder to lean on . . . you are all SUPERWOMEN!! So I want to remind you to love how special you are to those around you. You are fantastic that you are balancing and juggling so many things at the same time. You are powerful and strong, you can become whatever you want, and you can say it with conviction!
Thank you for being you!

You have been tagged with this message. Please pass this message onto at least 10 women on SP, your SP Friends and buddies, new members and continuing members, any woman who has brought sunshine into your life. Once you have been tagged with this message, I challenge you to tag at least 10 SUPERWOMEN. If you get tagged again you know you're really a SUPERWOMAN!
