Hello, my name is Maya and I have lost 30 lbs since 2009. I am learning a lot about what foods my body wants and doesn't want. The more I learn, the stronger I am and the better I feel, as I apply the nutritional and other knowledge to my life and eating habits. I am continually seeking new knowledge and trying new things. One new piece of knowledge seems to lead to another. I hope someday to be at peace with eating and my weight and feel healthy and well.

Hi Seaglass.....Just saw your comment today (don't get many comments!) Thanks for the feedback! I was really INTO the Whole30 but you may have read I only made it to day 17 when I couldn't stand being totally obsessed with food and having to do so much meal prep anymore! I did lose weight and felt better on the Whole30. I may try it again, but not during this summer heat where it takes all my energy fighting off the heat every day! *92F yesterday! Good luck!! A common SparkFriend recommended I read your blogs on doing the Whole30...I am on Day 5 and not a fanatic about all the rules (I dip my veggies in a bit of ranch dressing and still use 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee) and so far I am feeling better but also feeling like I got that low carb flu as well. If I can beat my sugar addiction and mindless eating and stop my processed junk binges, then this Whole30 thing will be worth it. I read some of your blogs and they are very helpful, coming from a 'real' person who has gone through what I am trying to do as well. Thank you for sharing your experience on a day to day basis!

I had a similar revelation when I made Mark Sisson's pork sausage....best sausage I ever had because it was so fresh tasting. And no junk in it when you make it yourself!
Thanks for the Against All Grain recipe recommendation. I'll try it.

I made three recipes from Against All Grain this weekend, with the Chipotle Barbacoa beef from Meals Made Simple being the clear winner. Wow, is it good!

I also made the Whole30's Perfect Sausage this weekend. When I realized that I didn't have to buy pre-made sausage, my mind was blown... It just never occurred to me before that sausage was just pork with spices. ;-) I really liked their Perfect Sausage recipe.
