It's TIME.

I am a big guy with a lot of really good reasons to lose this weight. Chief among them are being able to keep up with my two awesome kids and my fantastic girlfriend. You know how weight sort of creeps up on you? Well, I have put on 10 lbs a year for 20 years! It's time it stopped.

As well, additional spikes in weight gain were caused by a) quitting smoking nine years ago, and b) leaving my ex wife (best thing I ever did!) three years ago. Add it up and I have a ton of weight to ...

Tried WW and OA. I like aspects of both, although OA is a bit hard to swallow at times. I did Atkins for a while until a) it stopped working and was very hard to restart, and b) someone pointed out the GIGO rule: Garbage in = Garbage Out. You are what you eat--and I did not especially want to be a steak or a hot dog. Seriously, I don't care what their research says (and yes, I read the book), Atkins just can't be very good for you (although, it did have several very desirable side-effects, including an increase in muscular strength!).

And now... as of 06/29/2011 I think I am becoming a vegetarian! I know, right? Whodathinkit? My girlfriend and I went to see "Forks Over Knives" (www.forksoverknives.com) and it really seems to have made an impression on me. SO, now I am learning now to eat like a veg! I expect this will result in a lot of health benefits, including weight loss, but really, I made the decision for my health. Watch the movie and you will understand.

The YMCA has an indoor pool but I hate to drive there. I have tendinitis in both my feet but it has not flair up. I use to live off Sherman way, then I moved to sherman oaks which was better. But I really dont like the valley.

No I actually didnt go swimming because the pool was closed. But I did my walk 2 1/2 miles in my area. And I live in a hilly area so it is not an easy walk. I walked today as well although my feet are killing me. I think I am going to join a gym for a week until my feet heal. I should take a day off but once I am out of the house I get so motivated..

I was swimming everyday for 30 mins + until I was so sunburned even the life guards where saying "maybe you shouldnt be swimming today".
I was going to go swimming today, I even slept in my bathing suit so I can wake up and go but today it LA is going to be in the 100's. It is only 10am right now but I still may go cuz you kinda inspired me to go. I love the pool too.

I appreciate your message about vegetarianism. I was one for 18 years. That changed 10 years ago when a doctor told me I was harming my body. I didn't understand how until he did bi-lateral total knee replacements.

I still veer away from red meats & don't even like poultry or fish but have to eat some whether I like it or not. I thought I was getting the balance with grains & other veges but evidently hadn't.

I hope your food choices are working well for you.

Gentle hugs & daily prayers, Injoy:) Carolyn emoticon
