Deb's Time for a Change

Funny how bad habits suddenly come up and hit you square in the face. The word "diabetic" was the big wake up call. Time to fix what's not working. I'm Deb. I love to get outdoors most of the year. My favorite pass time is fly fishing and all that goes with that. I also like to paddle my canoe, go camping, take photos and bird watch while going for walks in the bush. After a long winter, stuck indoors with a major beer drinking couch potato, it's getting harder each year to get out ...
Funny how bad habits suddenly come up and hit you square in the face. The word "diabetic" was the big wake up call. Time to fix what's not working. I'm Deb. I love to get outdoors most of the year. My favorite pass time is fly fishing and all that goes with that. I also like to paddle my canoe, go camping, take photos and bird watch while going for walks in the bush. After a long winter, stuck indoors with a major beer drinking couch potato, it's getting harder each year to get out there...and the pounds have added up while my health level is going DOWN the tubes. Time to get motivated and get moving.

I'm the mother of four grown children and a grandmother of three now.

I'm just going over my weighty goals. The first big one is to get 25 lbs off, and the sooner the better. ...then it's a countdown through the next 25. After that, it's re evaluate as I know I need to get down about 15 lbs below my goal you see on here right now but hey...it's one small step at a time.

My Goals:
I want to get my health back, so that means improve my diet, exercise more and loose 50 pounds.
Cut the beer down to one or two a week. groan....well maybe a treat of a couple more (pr week) from time to time.


My Program:
First thing is to keep my carbs and calories intake in check...i.e watch what I eat, when I eat and how it affects me. Increase my exercise as I go along...

Daily walks.

Personal Information:
I live in London Ontario Canada. I grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. Married. Mom of four. Grandma of TWO.
I love the outdoors but the older I get the more I HATE winter.


Other Information:
I'm the President of the Forest City Fly Fishing Club. Member of the Western Ontario Fish and Game Protective Assn, Flygirls of Michigan, Federation of Fly Fishers and Trout Unlimited.

I love fish too, by the way. Eating them (cooked!) Catching them not so much, as I am way too Type A for the patience that is per-requisite for success.

Looks like you are as hung up on fly fishing as I am. Would you put the word out for me in your neck of the woods? I am losing a lot of weight this year and for my reward I am planning a trip to Chilean Patagonia next February. I found a great deal on a cabin, guide and lodge meals for a week and am looking for another fly fishing female to share the cabin. If you know anyone who might be interested in taking in a week of summer in the southern hemisphere chasing huge browns next February please point them my way.

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I do exercise everyday. I do cardio everyday for 30 minutes in the AM and 1 hour at night and I weight train 3-4 times a week. My FBS is excellent. It is in the low 90's and has been there for the past 6 weeks. I eat various food - making sure my diet is flexible and interesting. From everything I can tell it is my thyroid that is off and not happy. But I won't know for sure until I see my test results. Thank you again, I appreciate it.
