I am a Catholic homeschooling mom of three beautiful kids - well, the oldest two have finished college, so only my baby, Danny, is still homeschooled. Danny, who is fifteen, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in March of 2013. Since then he underwent two brain surgeries, six weeks of radiation, and over a year of chemotherapy. He was in remission for a few brief months, and then relapsed. Next he had another brain surgery and then completed a year of very difficult chemotherapy, with multiple nasty side effects. But he is still with us, and doing OK. It was all worth it because he is still with us.

I myself am a breast cancer survivor, and I have degenerative arthritis in my hip, which makes walking painful. Other than that, I am pretty healthy, for which I am extremely grateful.

My Goals:
Right now my goals are to incorporate small healthy changes. One other goal is to be able to exercise without severe pain in my hip...not sure if that is feasible with my arthritis.

My Program:
I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, plus walking as much as I can without pain.

Personal Information:
I am originally an Army brat and have lived in quite a few places. Currently I am in Texas, at least for a while. I have three kids, ages 25, 22, and 15. My degrees are in chemistry, but at the moment I am concentrating on trying to get Danny through relapse treatment and all that that entails.

Other Information:
Strength of character isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's also about how much you can handle after you've broken.

Yes, just add 12 ounces of any soda to a standard boxed cake mix. I am not making it up! Google it, and you will see that is quite common. You can create all sorts of flavor combinations, and if you use diet soda, it will allow you to save calories. Some purport that you cannot use diet soda because heating of the sweeteners is dangerous, but I have been making cakes like this for many years, with both diet and regular soda. I make all of my cupcakes and cakes this way because I like the variety of flavor combos.

Thanks for reading my blog. It was sheep cheese. Sheep and goats are the dominant farm animals in Slovakia,

Thanks for commenting on both of my blogs about my kitten. I think both dogs and cats each have their own special qualities. I've always loved both but like a dog for a pet better. But times change in my life and now a cat seems the way to go for me. Hope you do get to have your cat again one day.

Thanks for the washing machine info. I went to the store expecting to just buy something right then, but when I didn't even recognize the washer innards, I decided to investigate further. There were no old style non HE machines displayed although I've learned that there are still a few models available.
I've got some breathing room since DH's temporary fix (replacing worn springs on the drum) is holding so far. I haven't tried towels yet. I may use every towel in the house before I test the spin cycle with something that heavy.
