I am a Catholic homeschooling mom of three beautiful kids - well, the oldest has finished college and is working now and the second is in college, so only my baby is left at home with me (except in the summers). My baby, Danny, who is fifteen, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in March of 2013. Since then he has undergone two major surgeries, six weeks of radiation, and over a year of chemotherapy. He was in remission for a few brief months, and then relapsed. Next he completed a year of very difficult chemotherapy, with multiple nasty side effects. But he is still with us, and doing OK. It was all worth it because he is still with us.

I myself am a breast cancer survivor, and I have degenerative arthritis in my hip, which makes walking painful. Other than that, I am pretty healthy, for which I am extremely grateful.

My Goals:
Right now my goals are to incorporate small healthy changes. One other goal is to be able to exercise without severe pain in my hip...not sure if that is feasible with my arthritis.

My Program:
I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, plus walking as much as I can without pain.

Personal Information:
I am originally an Army brat and have lived in quite a few places. Currently I am in Texas, at least for a while. I have three kids, ages 25, 22, and 14. My degrees are in chemistry, but at the moment I am concentrating on trying to get Danny through relapse treatment and all that that entails.

Other Information:
Strength of character isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's also about how much you can handle after you've broken.

Author unknown (at least to me)

I'm not in style either. I should have replaced the phrase "in style" in my blog with "not blaringly out of style" or "what might be considered neutral or marginally acceptable by today's style standards". (ie: no flower power white polyester daisy printed bell bottoms are currently hanging in my closet..lol). When it comes to clothes my goal is just to blend in and avoid criticism. And if I could get away with wearing T-shirts and jeans to work I would. You're lucky! And I think you're smart for wearing your clothes out before you buy new. That's what they're meant for and you probably save a ton of money.

I had to laugh at your comment on my blog because you're totally right. But after playing around with different ingredients I think I have now finally found a combo that masks the spinach 100% and tastes decent. It only costs like $11 per serving to make, but hey, anything for health right? lol Thanks for bringing a smile to my day!

Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. I don't deserve your kind words of praise. I've got DH to help and nowhere near the responsibilities that you face every day. I admire your strength and resilience a great deal.
