Mary Ellen's Weight Loss Quest

I travel a LOT and plan to do even more when I retire. I've decided that the bulge around my middle has GOT to go. I know I will enjoy travel much more if I am healthier and slimmer. I don't want any health issues holding me back from enjoying my retirement...
And now that I have retired(yeah!!) and have met my goal weight (yeahX2!!) I need to continue maintaining my new weight and possibly re-evaluate my goal weight a bit lower. For now, I want to maintain what I have accomplished so ...

Current Status:
MARYELLEN301 Proved today that indeed, you never forget how to ride a bike! Last time I did it I had a 3 year old on teh back of the bike. That was 33 years ago!

My Goals:
I want to get down to 169 pounds by the time I retire in Feb. 2011. I started off with SP at 209. I'd previously lost about 20 pounds after I had my knee replaced in 2008.
I reached goal weight Feb. 4, 2011!

My Program:
Track my foods using the SP program.

Research recipes that are tasty as well as healthy.

Despite the fact that I HATE to exercise, I will follow the SP recommendations of exercises, but limit my time to 10 minutes a day till I gain motivation to increase the time.

When out with friends, I will try to maintain my sense of portion size.

Personal Information:
I live in North Carolina after having spent 30 years in Southern California. I came from Chicago so I have good food roots. That can be a blessing or a curse! I love to eat and cook and can read a cookbook like a novel!

Other Information:
I love to cook, read, garden and most of all travel. I have 2 cats and used to have Irish Wolfhounds, which really miss having but my little house, and virtually no yard, precludes that pleasure, so it's just me and the kitties!

Thank you for your participation this morning MARYELLEN301. I hope more people will participate on the Raleigh team too. I thought it maybe a good way to get some team action, since most people have busy schedules to try to meet somewhere, although that would be great too.
I hope everything went well with your move, sounds like you are doing lots to your new place house.
I also hope you have a quick recovery, plantar fasciitis. Sounds like you are making the best of it..

If you are over your goal, I do not consider you a fraud. I consider you a human! Stepping on the scale, facing it and determining what to do to get back to goal is the success mantra of a maintainer! You can do it!!
