One step at a time

I'm Mary and I'm here to get healthy and strong and to lose weight. Today 12/18/14 I'm starting fresh. I've been on and off this bandwagon for years. This time I mean to make it stick. I keep finding excuses to fall off and then I gain back everything I've lost.

I'm challenged in this because I have moderate to severe debilitating arthritis in my hips and lower back. Because of years of ignoring the pain or walking through the pain I have chronic back pain and problems. I am seeing a regular doctor and a pain management specialist who are supposed to be helping me. I also scheduled an appointment with a nutritionist next week. I'm doing what I need to do to address these issues and try to get healthy.

I have a lot of weight to lose and this is going to be a journey. I think with some accountability I might be able to stick it out this time.

My Goals:
Hit my goal weight.

My Program:
I'm logging what I eat to make sure I'm getting the right ratio etc. I'm eating lots of vegetables and fruits every day. I'm avoiding processed foods as much as possible. I'm cutting fast food out completely. I'm fixing my breakfast, lunch and dinner every day so I'm not tempted to stop on the way home or on the way to work.





Personal Information:
I'm from Missouri and I'm 50 years old. I have a 28 year old daughter who is fit, healthy and strong living in New York. I re-started my lifestyle change on December 18, 2014

Hello - how went the week? I ask now as I'm determined to have the day off work tomorrow so technically the weekend has started!
Did you enjoy your time with your daughter?

Sounds like you're having a real good cleaning session! I'm busy painting, painting, painting. I start and finish and decide it's not right so start again with another colour. I'm nearly done on my bedroom, have the hall and landing to finish (and the ceilings - nightmare!) the living and dining rooms and the conservatory left - I might as well do the porch as well!

I'm glad you're still able to exercise. I know how desperately you wanted to do that - so pleased you achieved it. Sorry to hear your eating habits have got to pot and I completely understand what you're saying - mine have as well, badly so. Some days I'm on 700cals and that's including the cream I have in coffee. However, you and me, we'll persevere. As long as we keep going and never give up we're doing ok.

How did your bean and kale meal turn out? Never had kale, I'll have to give that a try...I aim to try either one new food or one new recipe a week.
Oh, thanks so much for the website - it's great. I've saved it on to my favourites.

Hello - well that's the first working day of the week done. How's it been for you? I was supposed to be going on holiday today for a week but we had to cancel. Instead I've started to scrub the kitchen cupboards and have cooked a curry for tea and some for the freezer and a mince "blob" - five more meals for the freezer. I'm shattered now so thought I'd catch up with a friend. Oh bother! I've left my coffee downstairs...
I hope your week got off to a fantastic start!!!!
