My name is Marvin and I am in need of getting some semblance of control of my health. I have tried to do it on my own, but nothing has worked. It is time to start to trust in the notion that a community is better than one.

Hey Marvin, welcome to the Men, You're Not Alone sparkteam. It's great that you've taken this step and you should pat yourself on the back for that.

If you can try to drink as much water as possible - if you find it hard to cut down on the diet soda (at least it isn't regular soda!) then try to drink a glas of water everytime you have a glass of soda. then over one week cut down the coke by 3 glasses and increase the water by 3.

As for the 15 min walking - once you put on a MP3 player, 4 songs later the 15 mins are up! It's tough at first but the reward that you achieved a goal is so worth it.

Marvin...Welcome to SparkPeople. I know exactly what you mean by missing the island food. I've been stateside for a long time and still miss the food, so when I go home I eat everything in sight. It's expected, isn't it? Good luck on your journey to healthy living.
