Change forever
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." Aristotle I have always been heavy but spiraled out of control. I started Sparkpeople in 2009 and lost 40 lbs but as always in the past instantlyput it back on and for good measure added a few more lbs. Now its time to change this forever. I intend to spend the rest of my life as active as possible and need to change my lifestyle and eating. I have all the tools and need to apply them.

My Goals:
My Final goal is to achieve my goal weight in the normal BMI zone. My first short term goal is to loose 10% weight by 5/1/2012. Mid term goal to reach my BMI of 30 (overweight instead of obese) by 9/1/2012. My main goal is to become more active and have less pain because of less weight on my joints.
My Program:
Increase vegetables in my meals and reduce sugar and saturated fats. Increase water intake. Beginn an excercise program and start a blog.
Personal Information:
Moved to the USA in 1992. Having always been 20-30 lb overweight, I stopped smoking and also felt very uprooted and lonely. Started adapting to american foodportions and added on lb by lb. After a knee injury I became less and less active and gained more weight. And then I crossed the magic 50 and everything got even worse. My arthritis has made physical excercise very difficult and I feel like I need to change this spiral around hoping I will decrease my pain by loosing weight and then loose some more weight by being able to excercise more and then...hopefully get healthier in general. We have been organic farming for a long time and absolutly believe in it. It's time to get healthy on a personal level.
Other Information:
I love my dogs and horses and our life on the farm despite the constant struggles. But I also feel that I can not live my life to the fullest or be the greatest asset possible to the farm as long as I carry this excess weight around. I'd love to be able to go for long walks and maybe ride a horse again. And I sure would like to go back to the old country and show up lighter then ever!
