We'll all be feeling merry!

It's October 2009 and I'm finally jumping back on the horse. The past few years have been full of up and downs for me. I've changed schools a few times and dealt with Major Depression and Panic Disorder. I'm in treatment for both of those (therapy and medication) and am doing a lot of work to love myself more and create a better relationship with myself.

In 2007, I reached my lowest adult weight of 174 but through depression and not sticking to my guns, I gained back every pound I've lost since 2005. And you know what? That's okay. It is, because I've finally given myself the tools to be healthy both mentally and physically. BOTH are completely necessary for me.

So, here we go again! On a fabulous journey of fitness and nutrition. Hooray! I'm at a great starting point: I finally love what I'm doing and studying (Fiction Writing!) and in a place I love (Chicago!) and I've finally figured out what's important to me and what I want out of life. Now I can start again. :)

My Goals:
Eventually, I'm aiming for 18-23% body fat. I know that that's a long time in coming, and I'm okay with that.

I'd like to cut all the junk that's crept back into my diet back out and focus on eating nutritional foods that make my body and mind delighted.

I used to have dreams of doing a triathlon, but foot and ankle programs have me on a strict no-running program for, well, ever. I'm going to make some similar goals for an epic bike ride. It will probably involve camping. Weehaw.

My Program:
Start working toward total body fitness, focusing on both strength training and cardiovascular training.

A lot of bicycling--stationary for now since there's gobs of snow on the ground. Would like to work up to the point where I can bike 50-75 miles a day (and maybe more!) so I can give myself a trip between undergrad and graduate school. Studio cycling/spin class!

Personal Information:
I'm a writer and student in Chicago, Illinois, ready to start working hard again.

Other Information:
I drink more tea than is probably healthy. :D
