I've been dealing with food and weight since I was a kid. I've lost weight, maintained it for years even, then regained twice what I lost. I've done the No S Diet, Weight Watchers, Overeaters Anonymous, the Prism Diet, calorie counting, Sparkpeople, counseling, and many others. I just love food more than I love any other thing. I've been working through the Health at Every Size movement and Size Acceptance movements with a nutritionist and it has helped me give up the self-loathing that comes from years of dieting. But now, despite walking 5 miles a day, my weight is creeping up and I'm heavier than I can remember being. I'm unsure what to do now. The thought of going back to counting calories is depressing as hell, but just how big can am I willing comfortably get?

Thanks for your comment on my blog. For myself, I found I was able to tolerate limitation, but it was just to what I considered fair amounts of any food besides sweets three times a day. I knew I would not be starving myself or really hurting myself in any way to use those limits, and it has made a huge difference. It sounds like you were working a similar plan, at least on your own terms. Keep that up! We can get to a similar place of feeling we need luscious foods rather infrequently just by honestly eating reasonably and curiously and kindly looking about how vital we feel. It's a learning process that takes a couple of years, but what a better place we will be! It's like getting an undergraduate degree in ourselves.

For some reason I cannot post blog comments but I want you to know I am thinking of you and praying you get good results. I went through this several weeks ago and the results were good, but I can tell you the call-back on the first mammogram definitely gave me a jolt. emoticon
