Fat me, bad picture. My weight was in my face, gut, legs, waist. My arms looked ok here but weren't.
June 2013 Here I am again. I went and broke my ankle in 2010 and things went downhill from there. I was sedentary for almost a whole year because I was unable to walk very well; I ate poorly (being bedridden kind of puts you in a position of not having great food choices); and things just weren't good.
Today, and after watching "Extreme Weight Loss" on t.v., I am ready to change. I need my clothes to fit. I want to enjoy summer wearing tank tops and not having to worry about bulge/flab. BLEH!
So here I am again, and I'm going to do South Beach again because it worked last time. This is going to be the last time I do this.
I started the South Beach Diet in May 2007 at 190 pounds. I am writing this on January 30, 2008 and I am at 135 pounds. YAY! It was a blast seeing those pounds and that flab go away. Incredible, to say the least.
I'd always been skinny, up until I hit about 25 years old. That's when the weight came on. I was active, but apparently that didn't matter especially when I ate whatever I wanted (I was used to it, the weight didn't come on until all of a sudden, it seemed). I had done so many different diets, which I will list:
Nutri System, Jenny Craig, 6-week Body Makeover, Micro Diet, numerous others that I can't remember, and I may have lost the weight (or not) with those, but I always gained it back. Each and every time. How annoying! I had to lose weight for my wedding so I could fit into the dress I bought before I gained.
Once I was at 190, I wore baggy clothes that didn't do anything for me except hide me. Size 18 pants - that's the biggest size I wore, and size XL was the size of shirts. I don't know what I would have done if I'd had to start shopping in the 'big girls' department. It took my doctor to tell me to go on South Beach - I asked him what I should do to lose weight as I was appalled at my weight on the scale.
I started South Beach in May 2007 and found an incredible team here that I joined and there were a few members who truly helped me understand what I was supposed to be eating. I love that team immensely because I wouldn't be here where I am without them.
Anyway, that's where I was and where I am now. I am more active and even though I did activities with my kids, I do them more so now because I have more energy. I don't chow down on the couch at night when all are in bed. Instead, I read or watch the news, happily sipping decaf tea or coffee. I drink my water, I walk, I don't sit around too terribly much except at my desk job.
You guys can do this. Granted, I did South Beach, but I used the tools here, read the articles, made the recipes, talked to people and made friends.
Ok, it says I started here in May 2006, which I did, but I didn't do anything with it. Now, I am starting in May 2007... starting over.
As of January 2008, I am down to my goal weight of 135. I may try and lose another 5. I know it would be a healthy weight for me.
Started the South Beach diet plan on May 2, 2007 per doctor's orders.
Finished Phase II but still eating the South Beach way!
Walking 30-60 minutes at least 3 times a week.
Riding my stationary bike for 30 minutes on the days that I don't walk.
Taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator.
Drinking lots of water! I have a water bottle at work that contains 74 ounces. My goal is to finish it by the end of the work day.
I work full time and have kids and dogs and a hubby. I'm a very busy girl!
When time allows, I play outside with the kids (boys, ages 10 and 5)(baseball, soccer, playing catch, running in the yard, etc.).
I love to write letters to my far-away friend in Virginia and love pretty stationery and am always on the look-out for more. I could open my own shop as I have so much, but my friend is the same way. We are two peas in a pod!
Reading is my favorite way to relax and I have a TBR pile of over 300. Yikes!
I have a HUGE sweet tooth and I love to bake ~ not a good combination!
I love cookbooks and have a gigantic collection.

I'm sorry about your dog - I lost mine last November. She was like family to me and the void is still there. I am so, so sorry! Take a few days to recoup if you need it, or join us right away. Hi Kris... I've been thinking of what you said about potatoes... I haven't given up potatoes but I've given up white flours, vinegar and sugar and I sure have noticed a difference. Hubby is so miserable that he is almost ready to jump in with me. I think I really had a yeast issue because I lost 5 pounds last month without changing anything else.
