After a weight loss of 85 lbs. I maintained it for five years. Since October I have ballooned to my current 345. Most of it is fluid gain. But, nothing seems to help.

As a resident of an assisted living facility, it is difficult to control my meals. Supposedly there is a menu prepaired by a dietician. My experience is that the menu is not diabetic friendly. The menu is subject to the adminsitrators budget. Quality is sacrificed for quantity. These people do not read lables and have no clue as to nutrition. These places are not cheap. It is my strong belief that strict psychological testing be a prerequisite for licenseing. Excessive paranoia and immaturity should be grounds for denying certification.

I will be changing facilities in a few weeks. This one is detrimental to my medical and mental health. Living here is as traumatic as it must be for a Vegin in an abbatoir

I have finally figured out why we are called Golden Agers. We are the pot of gold at the end of every predator's rainbow. Now, as the baby boomers begin retiring, they are poised to reap the benefits of our years of hard work and divest us our properties, savings and anything else that they can get their grubby hands on.
1. Assisted living facilities this is one of the fastest growing scams of the 21st Century.. While some facilities are excellent. Too many simply warehouse the elderly and disabled. Their bottom line is profit by providing shoddy, unprofessional "Assistance", barely palatable meal service and by helping themselves to whatever they can steal from their residents.
Yes there are agencies that supposedly monitor these facilities. But the agencies are only as good as their employees. Again, some of these are excellent caring professionals. All too often these kind souls have their hands tied by "Company Policies"
As a victim of such horrendous exploitation ( I have no dementia nor other mental limitations) I can relate to the many pitfalls that await the elderly.
Hopefully I will be able to caution the elderly and their care givers on what to be aware of when opting to go into/or place their loved ones in such facilities.

Hey,

I saw you on the writers workshop team I wanted to invite you to another team (okay so it's mine!) because I'm about to start Script Frenzy this April and need something to keep me on track. The workshop will keep me writing but I need a challenge to go with it and yet want some people who know what it's like to combine writing and staying fit. The team is called, "The Challenge" and can be found on my sparks page. Hope to see you there. I'm starting a new challenge for us this April.

Saw your posts on the artist team and wanted to say good luck on your goal and I hope things get much better for you. I can't imagine how hard it is to try and lose weight when you don't have control over the way the food is prepared. You are a lot stronger than I am!
