For the rest of my life
My goal is to be active and strong for the rest of my life. AFTER THE PULMONARY EMBOLISM Thanks to SparkPeople, I had none of the risk factors for an embolism. (no longer sedentary and only 10 pounds away from a healthy bmi - woo hoo) Ignoring those wonderful details, my body decided that having a clot in a lung would be an exciting adventure. Who knew? First I got to visit an Urgent Care, next an Emergency Room followed by the ICU and cardiac unit. Oh, what fun. ...

Although I am not yet cleared for strenuous exercise, I have been allowed to start walking again. Instead of running 12 miles a week, I'm working my way up to walking without being winded. If anything, I am even more determined to regain my strength. Each nurse and doctor commented on how "otherwise, you are quite healthy." (Honestly, that's not very comforting while lying in a hospital bed.) Now that I know my body is willing to pull crazy stunts out of the blue, I will prepare by becoming as strong as possible.

Walk more than 10 miles per week. Strength train three times per week. Track food and exercise daily.
Personal Information:
I am a home schooling mom. Our oldest is studying engineering at the university; our senior in high school is taking English 101 and Russian at the community college. Russian, sure, let's pick a language with a completely different alphabet. I'm not getting involved with this one. I'll stick to tutoring calculus - much easier. Our youngest is still taking all her classes at home.
